Shop progress

Though you’d all like an update on my new shop. In the last couple of days, Ive built 16 feet of workbench, and the framework for 2 drawer units. I cut the wood for the drawers for one of the units tonite, and I’ll assemble them tomorrow.

I may get to work on trains before Christmas!

Bob,

Around these parts, progress means pictures!!!

Sigh…hang on…

/me finds batteries for the camera

OK. Heres the 16 feet of workbench. There will be shelves underneath, on top of the sill, and the 2x4

The view the other way shows the 2 shelf/drawer units Im working on. The 3 drawers I have done are in the small unit, with the rest of the pieces on top of it.

I didn’t see any holes in the wall to run the trains into the shop…

If precison is a problem, a 12 gauge at 4-6 inches does the trick.

Dave, I use a double barrel… then you are set for double track!

Maybe he’s going to use the windows?

Greg

Very nicely done! Not bad for a 'puter geek…

Very neat, Bob. Lots of lovely room! Please post more as you progress (shop junkie here…)

I suppose once it’s finished, you’ll clean everything up spiffy and always keep it that way…right? Right, Bob? Right? Bob?

Dawg

This is a big step up from a 6x8 corner of the basement. The run in/out will be under the bench, on the far right. Ground level is about there.

The shop will NEVER be this neat again, I can tell you that.

A bit like this then

Good luck Bob

Bob,

Good stuff!

Don’t mind the computer geek comment, that’s just envy from those who have trouble keeping things organized.

Taking a break from working on the shop today, and thought Id update all y’all.

More drawers built, to the point where I can bring in some of the small tools and parts, and start organizing. Have the wood cut for the heavy-tool shelf under the workbench, that’s going in next, then the larger tools come in, too.

So, tonite I should be organizing styrene, basswood, and castings. I may even figure out what project Ill be working on this week.

Are you taking nominations for the project, Bob?

Heheh… It’ll probably be the steel end boxcar project that we’ve been pondering. That and the 7/8 winter car swap. Those are the 2 priorities right now.

Bob I’m not to far behind ya …I hope.

Almost done adding OSB board sheathing (like plywood for ya non-constucty types) to the walls inside of my brand new garage. I was going to use masonite or drywall, but Home Despot had the golly-danged OSB board for only $6 a 4x8 sheet, sheesh! thats the best deal I’ve seen in years there! got 24 sheets!

Got my inside layout planned, outside is also planned out now, ready to rock and roll whenever I can now…

Vic,

Probably Canadian OSB.   There will be a lot more cheap OSB 'til we get rid of all that Mountain Pinebeetle wood.
