Shooting sport, part 3

One very very lucky dude!

Read the information below before you use the new 50 Caliber rifle your wife buys you for your birthday!

Turn your sound up so that you can hear the bullet head back.

This guy is shooting a 50 cal rifle. Watch the dust when he fires. The target is a steel plate, 1000 yards away. You can hear the ping of the hit and then hear the bullet coming back. It hits the ground just in front of him, then bounces up, hits the earmuffs, knocking them from his head. The footage is amazing. You can hear the bullet as it tumbles through the air on its course back toward the shooter. He’s lucky it hit the dirt first. He is okay and obviously very lucky.

Steve - this halfwit was shooting at the steel plate you can see sticking up about 100 yards away. What hit him was part of the jacket, not the core. This was in an NRA bulletin a while back.

Here in UK, where we have the second largest .50cal shooters association outside the USA, the minimum range for shooting the .50cal BMG is 500m - and NOT at a metallic target either.

I had this happen with a 9 mm pistol at 25 yards. I still have the scar on my belly. Paper targets for me from now on.

I shot a 50 cal desert eagle, my buddies would not even try it… the only handgun I have never shot one handed…

Greg

I’ve never shot a 50 cal Desert Eagle, have shot the Ma-Duece, though. Largest handgun I’ve shot was a .454 Casull. Lagest rifle, a .416 Rigby. Only once. Never again.

I used to shoot 100 yard steel target matches with a .44 mag, I used a Redhawk, those wimpy S&W and Colt .44 Mags couldn’t take the loads necessary to knock down the targets…

Sold off all the guns years ago, after I got married…

I still have my Ruger Redhawk, deactivated now here in yUK, of course, and three of my forty-seven Model 29’s. I DO have a Ruger Super Redhawk that complies with the rather odd rules here in UK that allow you to have a so-called Long-barrelled revolver. It has a 14" 3/4" diameter barrel and a bit sticking out of the bottom of the butt to make it 24" long overall…sigh.

Right now I’m looking at cleaning it up after about 250 rounds went through it this afternoon.
