I need advice on how to attach Asphalt shingles on a roll to plex-i-glas. I have tried goop. It sticks to the plastic very well but not to the shingle.
I have used E6000 on almost everything and it is a good adhesive but I haven’t tried it on plexi and shingles. How about liquid nails? There is also contact cement but I don’t think that will hold up well outdoors.
I’m sure someone here has done jsut what you are attempting and they will chime in.
Dan, Lowe’s sell a non-slip tred tape that looks a lot like shingles. It’s called “Skid Guard Safety Tape” and has an adhesive on the back side. A very strong adhesive since it’s used on steps and ladders. I’ve used it as roofing material on a building.
Be sure and scuff sand your plexiglass with 80-120 grit sandpaper before applying any type of adhesive to it.

I do not understand. I used a new tube of household goop to glue down asphalt shingles, it actually softened the shingles a bit, and when cured the shingles were impossible to pull off. Are you using fresh, runny, Goop?
The plex-i-glas I’m using has been sand blasted. The Goop sticks to it very well but the test shingle peeled right off. I may replace the plastic roof panel with plywood so I can staple the shingles on.
Try this:

Honestly that might be the smarter approach. You will probably get arguments on this however using plexiglass/acrylic for a roof in my experience has not been so good. Especially if it takes on a fair amount of sun.
Ken, where can I get Welder?
Dan, This is where I ordered it from. I got the link from Bruce.
I haven’t been able to find it any stores yet.
