Shay No 8 Enters Service on the WV&K

Some of you may recall my parts built 2 truck Shay that i built to resemble Manns Creek Railroad No8 Winter before last, this past week I finally took it down off the shelf and did an RC install in her, today she ventured out onto WV&K rails for the first time…

First she was put to work switching in Pearce Yard, while 117 passes to couple to the front of the train…

Running to tack the cabin on the rear of the train so the freight can leave town…

No117 waits in the clear on The Cutoff, while No8 comes into The Junction on the mainline…

No8 passes the 111 while she pauses at the Junction with an excursion consist…

Nice little Shay.

Really looking good Bart! Nice roster of Shays too.

looking good, bart…

 (Had to add this text because to software said my message was to short)

I am deeply envious of folks who can just take a Shay off the shelf and install r/c. Not one of mine is r/c, but I’d really like at least two that were fitted.

Yea Tac I know how you feel. :frowning:
I have a Forney I’d like to put RC in, but I have not the funds nor the know how to accomplish the task.

Nice Bart. Now you can run trains while you work on the track.

What did you Shay?

Is that a modded “Indie” in the last pic?

Hey Bart,

This is kind of a new experience for you isn’t it? I mean actually able to do some operations on track at your own place?

Glad to see it. I guess you will be ready in a month and a week. No pressure now, you’re coasting to the date, unless you get a wild hair to tear everything up again. Every day your breakin records, just keep resisting the urge to get the wrecking bar out.

Great pictures, thanks for sharing.
