SHASTA PACIFIC 3.0

A little more progress to show, actually these pictures are from a week or so back. I’m well into the piping and trying to wrap this project up this week so I can concentrate on the 2025 MIK.

The boiler/pump house is complete and a good start on the fueling deck.

OK, all finished just today.
Now I can start to think about the MIK for 25.

Fun little project and a good way to use up a couple of coffee cans that have been sitting around forever taking yp space.

Another amazing build Rick. Thanks for posting.

Thanks Neil,
Like I said it was a fun little project and gives me the fuel facilities I needed for the small yard in Fields Landing.

Looks like it has been a while since I added anything to this thread so here is a new project.

We have a long barren section along the back fence where there is no points of interest except the main line. It needed something and we had several farm buildings left from the old railroad so an executive decision was made.

A farm/ranch layout was developed and the basics are now in place. Unfortunately due to space and layout constraints none of the existing buildings are going to be reusable. This means 9 new structures have to be built

A couple of pictures of what is done so far.
The open area with the new “table” in place

A close up of the new area with the track and structure bases in place.

A view from the other end. The main line is going up on a 2% grade and the table area is level. I used carved foam to make the block wall separation.

The first structure, a windmill and tank is already underway.

Rick, at first I thought those were planter boxes for farm plants, but now I see they’re foundations for your buildings, right? Looks great.

How long did it take you to knock out that table / structure?

Thanks Cliff.
Right, foundations for the structures. By using the bases I can get them level and square so the buildings sit well without a lot of adjustment.

Time to build the structure, I don’t know, probably 2-4 hours a day over 3-4 days.

You didn’t ask but the building layout is as follows.
In the second picture the first base is for the windmill/water tank then the farm house then the garage/shop, next the chicken pen then the silo. then we have the main barn and the milking barn
next is the corral and hay shed. Last but not least is the car barn for the farm rail car.

The farm has it’s own rail car to move the freight cars along the siding because they don’t want steam engines that near their buildings.

Farm and ranch buildings leftover… have to build new ones. I’m wondering about the logic in that and how it got past the big Boss?

Great idea. I suppose the alternative would be to model a burnt-down barn.

First structure for the new farm area.
Windmill and storage tank to supply water for the farm buildings

Once again just built from stuff on hand.

Really clever arrangement, Rick.

Lots of people omit the water tank entirely, nice that you didn’t. Looks very practical.

I’ve not seen foundations like those, interesting.

Does the light work? (ok, dumb question…)

Hmmmm … farm rail car
You should build one like Eric did but use a bull

Thanks Cliff,
The windmill wasn’t exactly 1:20 scale so the concrete piers helped to bring it up to a better height. Remember back in the day concrete forms were built from planks not plywood hence the marks on the piers and the steel pipe is for added stability.

The light will when I bring power and a transformer to this section of the RR.

Thanks Sean, that’s just clever as heck, love it.

Ric! The world domination soda plan seem to be moving forward. It’s now in Oz!

Does the Shasta Pacific 3.0 have any soda related cars in its livery? I saw it mentioned in this video…

I hope you have one of these to put out !

Thanks Bill,
I didn’t know they had reached that far, wow, clear to OZ.
Also thanks for that video, hadn’t seen that one before.

As for the Shasta Soda rail car I have never built one in large scale I do however have one in On3 from my old days in that scale.
Mine is a boxcar because I model 1939 not the late 1800’s.

Sean,
Yea, the little Shasta travel trailers. Believe it or not there are still a lot of the original trailers from the 1940’s and 50’s still in use I think the name is still being used by one of the major builders in todays market.

But to your question. Yes, we do have one of those but it resides in our travel trailer full time.
