Large Scale Central

Secret Project part II

The basic form is done for my diorama. The base is 21" x 48". The front left corner will feature a mine office and a large tree. There is a cut out area in the mountain for a battery pack, auto reverse unit and speed controller. Also a couple of pics of a retooled Bachmann ore car and a better pic of the mine train cars.

You moving indoors?

Nope, it would be hard to get 450+ feet of track indoors  . Just dabbling with a fun project for the ECLSTS model contest. I might do something more permanent inside with the mine tram later down the line.
I wish I had pink foam back in my HO daze. Its fun and easy to work with.

Brian, looks good, so far. Is this going to model a dump from one hopper to another?

No secret projects allowed!!!

Yes, I’ll build a simple ore chute like this one (my apologies to the photographer that I pilfered this from) -

I have a bunch of old cedar tomato cages that I’ll rip down the lumber from for the chute and mine office. Authentically weathered! -Brian

Better hurry. ISnt the ECLSTS before the west coast BTS in June? I’ve struggling to find time to finish my “secret project” for the BTS.

Just two weeks away. Fortunately, they are forecasting some cold and rainy weather over the next week.

I have all the parts ready to go and a big box of scenery stuff left over from my HO daze.

Cedar tomato cages?? Enlighten me… I prefer the steel cages but never seen cedar ones.

They were custom made from ripped down cedar fence boards. Those little steel things were never big enough for our tomatoes so I made cages 18 inches square by 5 feet high (1 foot in the ground). They held up for about 5 years.

The big pink mountain has been sculpted and painted. It looks much better in person. Secret Project part III - C-16 Forney-cation has also been started -

Brian, the mountain looks good… Hope you get it done for York, would be great to see it in person…

Looks Good. Just for the record, you have 1 week.

Oh boy! Thanks for the reminder. What are you, my wife??? ;)

That is coming along nicely.

Well, I didn’t get Secret Project part III (the Forney bash) done in time so I dusted off the Dunkirk to put into action. I did get the auto reverse working on the mine tram. I test ran it for 10 hours and it was still running strong on the battery power. The tram with one ore car shots in and out of the mine every 30 seconds. Some quick pics-

See ya in York! -Brian

That is really nice, Brian. Did you say that you did all of that from the cab of your tractor? :stuck_out_tongue:

Nice work Brian.

Jezzuz man, did you take the week off or did you just not sleep?

Looks GREAT Brian, Seriously cool.

It’s been taking me forever to keep my “BTS secret project” moving along, luckily, I’ve still got 2 months.

PS. Messy stuff carving that foam isnt it? :stuck_out_tongue:
