Ahhhhhhhhhh,
I see you found them.
HLW seems to be concentrating on their Mini’s too.
It would be great if HLW was making these for Bachmann
Ralph
They’re so adorable! I thought of HLW when I saw these too.
I have to admit after the extreme duldrums for us small layout guys these look really terrific, not perfect (engines lacking piston rods, good for small kids, but I think I can remedy that) but a great starting platform for bashing for a small layout, and the MSRP price is very reasonable. Methinks these will sell quite well in a recession. Now if Aristo would reissue the 32" dia track
Vic,
when I saw them over on the B-mann site, I immediately thought of you and what kind of reincarnation the Lil Big Haulers will have in your hands.
Sorry, to pour cold water over all the hoo haa, but did not LGB do this forty-five years ago???
Tim, yeah but them cost a arm and a leg from those germans!!
Tim, yeah but where are they today? EPL did do this first with the Toytrain lineup, but ever since they liquidated that line and then did the Big Hindenburg, only HLW has been doing the small train item, and HLWs stock is very limited. Whatever old TT stock thats been around on Ebay has been being hawked at ludicrus high prices, these have a great low MSRP to start with and have great bash potential. the street prices should make these very popular with beginners, especially ones with kids.

Those are sweet. Im buying one of those sets when they come out. It will be perfect for my inner loop on my layout.

Hi Guys:
Why would Bachmann not include the piston rods and the piston drive rod?
The low priced Columbia loco had piston rods.
Youngsters, even at that age, will realise that the loco is missing this.
The short J&S coaches should be 9 windows in length. Why 5 windows in length?
Unfortunately, this is a pass for myself. Locos with piston rods and 9 window length coaches would have been a definite buy.

Quote:If my kids are any indication, no they won't--and both of them are very familiar with trains. (I taught them well.) Well, they might realize something's missing, but they're sure not gonna care. These train are all about simple play. They're cartoons, not models. These are offered in the same spirit as LGB's "Lehmann" toy line, Hartland's "shorty" freight cars, Eggliners, and all that other fun stuff. It's designed for little hands, hence everything having just two axles. Putting a 4-axle piece of equipment on the rails ain't easy for many adults, let alone kids.

I’m excited to see this line of trains, and I anticipate my kids having their fair share of these cars. But even under the best circumstances, there’s very little on these trains that can be considered fodder for scale models. Fortunately we’ve got plenty of other products for that.
Later,

Not trying to start anything Norm but your never happy with anything and your request are a bit much. You should start your own company if your not happy. I know my kids wont notice whats missing. You forget these are really ment for kids (the picture with the kid kind of gives it away) Why would Bachmann go crazy with all the details. Its just something that will break in a kids hand. You have to keep it somewhat simple. If you want stuff added then there are ways to do it yourself.
Why do the coaches have 5 windows rather then 9. Hmmmm could it be to keep them small like the sets are ment to be. You add nine windows you now have a longer coach the set was not ment to be like that. You have to look at the set with kids in mind, not adults. They have great kitbash possabilties.
Ok Im done just tired of people never being happy.
Plastic pushrods still get caught in little fingers, metal pushrods can break those fingers, Playmobil did the same thing, limit the siderods to the barest minimum and keep the breakable details to a mimimum, I accept that as a given, its the same thing the Toytrain line did from EPL although they did do a better job with their line, but they are gone and the combined mass lunacy of EPL items on Ebay guarentees the prices these are being offered at will be good sellers. As for the cars, who cares? Kids dont look at prototypes, they just want something big and easy to play with, besides if you want to add details, thats what Ozark makes parts for.
I am eagerly looking forward to these, because there has been so very little of recent years for small car bashers like me to mess around with. Afterall one can only do so much bashing a Mack, I was getting tired of doing Mack bashes, this will be great new bashing platforms. Bring’em on!
Now if i get this right, the Tank engine has a MSRP of $99 bucks and that should come in at about $50-60 street price. Does that not intrest anybody as a motor block for just about anything you could imagine?
Dave…EXACTLY! Give that man a cigar!
