Matt, Once you have a pin nailer, you will wonder how you ever got along without one. Harbor Freight has a cheap one, but the quality is less then best, but very useable, and will serve you well for many years. I finally up graded to a Hatichi and has been very pleased with it. You can get pins as short as 3/8" long, Great for attaching battens to sidings. or cross supports to trestle bents.

If you get a harbor freight pin nailer, save yourself some jams, get quality pins. I found the HF pins were soft and bent… No problems since I switched to Bosch, at the time the cheapest of brand names.
