Scranton Steamup 2013

Had a great weekend at the Scranton Steamup. The last day I took some video of my stuff running as well as Jon’s Shay. It was nice to see Jon again. His Shay looked great and ran very well.

I ran my Backwoods Engine (Project engine) and also doubleheaded my backwoods engine with my friend Lee’s modified project engine. I also ran my Bellflower Cricket and double headed with a Berkley Cricket (Its too bad we did not have a Westminister cricket, then we could have ran all three generations) The Forney also got some run time this weekend.

Video I made

I didnt take any video of the other stuff since a few had done it already. Here is a much longer video of the bigger stuff running.

Great videos - thank you for sharing.

Shawn,

Great video. Thanks!

Here is another great video from Scranton Scott McDonald made. It has a cool time lapse of the set up and break down.

Lol Im actually in a few of the videos as well. Greenish shirt with a faded blue b ball cap
(the good looking guy

The number of cars on the cab forward was impressive. Did anyone see how they were hauled to the location?

Not specifically Ric, but a couple of folks had trailers. They might have been for the tracks though. Also saw many hand trucks stowed about.

Ric most stuff was stored in rubbermaid type containers. Whats nice is they come in so many sizes from flat to tall… Then transported with hand carts etc…

Im actually in the process of doing the same to my stuff. Log cars in one container, ore cars in another. Works out real well, protects everything and easier to stack. Each steamer has its own box either hand built wooden or plastic tool boxes work great. Those deep open tool trays are great for water, butan etc…

Well, I’ll be around Syracuse on Monday,July 22 and heading home on the Tues. the 23rd. I could just as easily make a detour on my way home and stop in. Ain’t that far out of the way…

Hmmm… I’m probably not going to Canada or Syracuse this year as our kid is having a wedding in June and that about kills our vacation time / budget, but a road trip to Shawn’s for some running might be doable ;]

That sounds like a plan to me. Ken as the time gets near touch base so we can make it work out. Dont forget to get your NJ passport.

We can do that. I’ll email my cell# later on. I have your address, and it’s about a 4 hr ride from The Finger Lakes to you neck of the woods.

Will be looking forward to it. Jon keep that date open.

Sounds good. I’ll put in for a vacation day ;]
