Large Scale Central

Scale Picks, Shovels, and Spike Hammers in 1:22.5

Anyone have a good source for these? All I can find are parts of a bigger set, most of which I have no use for.
I have people that will morph into track/mine workers, but the tools are not the easiest to find.
Any thoughts on an easy way to contruct some?
My era is based loosely around 1910, a fictitious branch supporting a mine and lumber operation.
Completely in the planning stages, lots of track, rolling stock, and a few locomotives are on hand already. I am simply trying to find the final details (if there is such a thing).

Have you checked out Ozark Miniatures? http://www.ozarkminiatures.com/Scripts/default.asp

They have all that stuff and more. The scale isn’t stated on a lot of their stuff, but I suspect it’s pretty close to what you want.

Thanks Bruce! I shot them an inquiry about the scales/lengths of their picks and shovels.
I would like to have a few or their donkey engines too, but suspect the wife would frown on a second mortgage for them. Just guessing at that one of course.

Time to start scratch building! Picks and shovels can be easily made out styrene. Or, make one, cast a dozen.

Besides Ozark, Bachmann makes some scale accessories sets-

http://www.ridgeroadstation.com/istar.asp?a=6&id=11792411!117 (less than $4) and Train-Li has a few sets for under $10 - http://www.train-li-usa.com/store/accessories-c-52.html?sort=3a&page=1 -Brian

I have some of the Ozark tools and they were nicely done. I bought one of their “junk packs” and got a few more.

Those darn ebayers! The same set that is at
http://www.ridgeroadstation.com/istarim … 7957_d.jpg
is on ebay for 9 bucks.
Train-Li has a construction set that seems to be the most bang for a buck. The Street construction set http://www.train-li-usa.com/store/under10-street-construction-p-345.html Would be the easiest to adapt for my needs. Some of it won’t be much good, but thats the nature of a set. All vbery good sources gentlemen. Looks like I can do some ‘after factory modifications’ and end up with some pretty decent tools.
Doug, I emailed Ozark about getting them to separate out picks and shovels from a set for me, since that as well was 80% useless to me. I was concenred about the scale though. Thanks for the clarification on that one.

Wow, the Bachmann set looks pretty inexpensive. Can’t make 'em for that.

Here is the least expensive I have found so far, so scored 4 sets of them. It seems the excess parts box will grow before the outside railroad does.

Bruce I have to agree, I don’t beleive I can make them for that, or as suggested earlier, can cast (is this a form of piracy like copying DVD’s or something?) them if my mine crew tries to turn into State Highway workers and leans on the brooms.

Don,

I listed that same set above at Ridge Road for $3.41!

Darn the luck! I am almost compeled to buy a few to save face…

bought two…

I suspect there is no need to search for log cants and tongs. I’ll be using the handles from the tools not needed for these projects.
