Santa Train 2012

New guy on board, I 've been model railroading for a loooong time and posting on other forums but saw some well respected names in the hobby here and decided to give it a try. Lots more about me and my ‘way too many hobbies’ on my website. That includes pix and a video of my sixth annual, motion detector controlled Santa Train:

It has been a big hit with the grandkids (particularly when there are ‘real’ presents in the gon), the neighbors and the UPS guy. I’ve got more stuff to brag about and lots’o questions to show how little I really do know, so hope to be around a while. Regards and Merry Christmas,

Welcome aboard!

If you’re still looking for a source for the Aristocraft springs, someone here has the answer. The subject has come up before. I just don’t remember the answer

Welcome David. Great bunch of guys here… A couple of Old Sore Heads, But they know what there doing…

David if you are looking for Aristo springs I have two different bags from Aristo here. art29112 a small spring and art29113 a larger spring These are from Aristo old stock
Mike

Wow, what a response! Glad to be here, folks, and thanks to you all for the warm welcome and kind words about my website and modeling efforts. Mike, thanks for your offer. I ordered every type of spring that Aristo had in stock a few months ago in hopes something would fit. Nothing was close, it looks like ‘FREIGHT TRUCK SPRINGS (2 PCS.) Item Id: P29101-99’ (currently out of stock everywhere that I have tried) is the only type that works. My substitute from the slot car cache is doing okay, but will hope to find the real thing some day.

David, some here have found great success using the springs from pens. If Jon Radder chimes in he has used them with success. I believe they are on the Bic brand of pen.

Yes - I use cut down pen springs in the Delton trucks I buy off eBay. You’ll find a petty wide variety of colors and stiffness in different pens. Most of what I have use are from cheap promotional (no-name) pens. The do tend to be much weaker than the stock springs from Aristo.
