I have a USA huson with the AT&SF markings.
I was wondering what style caboose it would of pulled in frieght service?
You need a caboose for every engine!
A Red one…
;( I didn’t see that coming! LOL
First thing I would do is check if they were actually used in freight service

If they increased the drivers of the early, larger series from 73" to 79" to get more speed and less tractive effort I sort of doubt it. “Lionel’s” interpretation not withstanding.
You need a Santa Fe classic offset cupola caboose. Mineral Brown, not red. Red (or Indian Red) came in the 1960s with the “Ce” rebuilds. But all steamers were long gone by then on the Santa Fe.
You’ll want a caboose that essentially looks like this:
The closest thing in large scale would be LGB’s Santa Fe caboose (40793). It looks like this:
The color is too red and it isn’t a perfect scale model. But it’s about the only thing out there remotely close to the prototype. I’m not sure how well it looks with 1:29 scale items like the Hudson. Maybe someone here knows?

Yeah the Santa Fe hudsons were passenger locos. Used mainly on the eastern lines…meaning east of La Junta Colorado. But the USA Hudson isn’t close to a Santa Fe hudson, so I think you’ll be fine hauling some freight with it.
Here’s a nice comparison between two Santa Fe hudson models, USA Trains first and then a prototype specific Brass model in HO scale.
