Santa Fe themed work desk

I posted a pic of our Rio Grande themed work desk at our place in Colorado, so now that I’m back in California I figured I should post a pic of our Santa Fe themed work desk for the HO scale layout.

Especially now while it still looks nice. I like to listen to playoff baseball on the radio while working on the this layout. So this desk area will soon be a big mess.

I have an oak desk from a Santa Fe station, my grandfather said it was from a local station in San Diego. I think I still have my pack of playing cards bought on the San Diegan, will have to look, they have F units on them.

I also have some Santa Fe Matchbooks, etc. I’ll have to look to see if I have any “surplus” items for your desk.

Whats that weird black thing with a dumbbell on it and white dots?

Oooh, I like them olde phones. I should have snagged my grandparents old phone, when they upgraded to touch tone.

Devon, that is a primitive device used for doing the precursor to texting, twitter, instagram and facebook. It is the reason we use strange words for simple tasks . ever wonder why they call it "dialing " when you tap numbers onto a screen on your phone, and why it is called a dial tone. There was also the same type of device hanging on a wall which did the same work, but caused you to have to stand while doing it.

My desk has never looked that neat!

My father-in-law saved some candlestick phones when they were being tossed out in the early 50s. He converted them to lights! He wired in the hand piece to turn the light on and off. It still works fine!

Updated pic of the Santa Fe work desk…added a few items, the brochure holder being the biggest find.
