Santa fe & Butthead Cove R.R. Pond repair

I’ve seen others off and on working on their R.R. that have water features that is an added up keep. Ponds are a messy item that I hate to get into. Every few years we have to drain our 38 foot pond and fix leaks and paint the bridges going over it. Also, gives us a chance to do Maintenance on the Swing Bridge that needs minor alignments and on the piers. The pond is around 3 foot deep and takes a few days to move the Koi’s to a temporary pond. Move all of the small bull frogs to the back reservoir for now.

"Sorry can’t get photo off of flicker or hard dr.

Do this fig.out stuff later some day."

Here is a link to show something.

Thanks Rooster and Joe. (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

From a few years back this Orange Koi was a little over 2 foot long and now this year looks like 3 foot long. Boy do they get big.

There is around 40 or so in this pond… Still hate to start the messy clean up that will take a few days. Then start the repairs and re-sealing.

Pumping it down now. Looks like the walk bridge and Trains Girder bridges needs some upgrade to.

That blue & green things, top right & left are CD desk that keep the Egrets and other varmints away. They don’t like the bright sun light it reflect in the breeze.

Down and dirty… This may take some time… Some places… its almost a foot deep of crap from the Fields and Trees over the years.

Life of living in the country… LoL.

Koi fish are happy for awhile in the three foot deep temp. pond. Got the pool pump/filter and air pump running for now.

Noel,

Where are all your helpers? (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-undecided.gif)They help you with running, track work and such but not pond? (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-frown.gif)

Had two helpers yesterday, but all pooped out today… besides me to.

Give it heck tomorrow again. Do a little bit at at a time. Fish are save for now. All will get done in time.(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

That “crap” from the bottom of the pond is good soil. It has lots of nutrients that plants like. I had a 5 gallon bucket of that stuff from when I relined my pond. Most of it has been used up now, and my mom’s houseplants are quite happy and healthy.

David… I have extra…Maybe a pick up load if you need any… LoL (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

Noel, ah, no thanks. I think the time is approaching when I may want to remove some of that from the deep end of my own pond.

Findley have the Koi pond finished. Now we can see the fish again on the bottom of the pond.

Just some photos.

Rebuild and piped this small water fall.

Now very clear again.

Even in the Dove and Turtle Large Hexagon Cage the stream and water fall in there is nice a clear…

“There 7 Doves and 5 large Turtles in there.”

Now cleaning up the 14’ X 3’ Koi pool. It’s our Temp. fish holding pool with our Grand Dtr. (Haliey) cleaning and having fun with the suds.

We have to use Dawnsoap to help get rid of any parasites and bugs before drying the pool. Have to do this before putting it away for next time.

Anyway… its done for a few more years.

Now can get back to running Trains again.(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)
