Sandtower outriggers complete

I’ve finished up the model. Now to work up the courage to weather her.

Looks great, Brian.
I know what you mean. I find it hard to bugger up a nice paint job.
But the tower would look good with some rust.
Ralph

Or, the story could be that it was just installed.

Cool Modern stuff rocks…

If it’s going outside, there will not be much need to weather it.

If it’s an indoor model a little dust and dirt would be nice. Some modelers overdo the weathering, when just a little bit of weathering could help make the details pop.

He has an indoor layout David

David who?

Oh, ok, then just a little bit of grime and dirt to help make the details pop would be nice.

Wow that is nice, i like doing the 4 ft rule, but this can stand my bifocals.

Tom H

Wow, that looks great!

Thanks guys,

Thanks Nick for bringing this back up…it’s been almost 4 years…sheesh…

David (both of you)…I actually don’t even have my indoor layout at the moment.

I tore it down over a year ago…I’m waiting and hoping to retire and move to Arizona where I’ll build an all new indoor empire. In the meantime I’ll continue to build models to populate the future layout.

Brian

I think I remember seeing you post this somewhere else? I do remember seeing it and will say again what a great job. I was researching for an O scale engine service yard back then. I would love to have that now outback!!! Looks like I need to scale things up a bit and do it again.

This is my first look-in at your sand tower, Brian. What a pleasant surprise!
AWESOME MODELLING!!!

Thank Brian for building something that looks great and not like some others on other forums that just try to ride your coat tales with sad looking cooper piping…

Uncalled for, Nick. Bye bye

Brian, did you ever take pictures of the actual build process? Wasn’t interested in doing one of these because there wasn’t anything like this on my protype. But it it looks 2 cool to not have one.

Looking at that copper build for ideas also

Thanks again guys,

Mark, I only took a few. The main pole and sand hopper are PVC pipes. Most of the rest is Evergreen and Plastruct styrene. The open grating on the walkway is hobby wire mesh.
