Large Scale Central

Sandhouse Build..

Latest progress. I have all of the door slats cut. They are 1/4 wide for the middle door on the front and the rest are 1/8 wide.

Up next slats glued to front door “opening”. These are horizontal, I noticed on some photos that this door once looked like it had vertical slats, however after looking at some recent photos I found on a search and from Dave “The man” Taylor (Thanks again Dave) it looked like the door had been repaired with horizontal boards. I went this route , because it makes the door stand out a little better against the battens…

These two doors swung out so haven’t installed handles yet…

Next is the outside sand storage area. I am using 1/2 dowel rods that are distressed using a razor saw to add “wood grain”. probably can’t see it in the photo but it’s there… The dowels i used from a old stack I have were dark in color, so they looked pretty good from the start.

Posts and sides all cut to length…

Next photo is the sides being glue and pinned to the posts. I am using a small square to try to keep them straight and also used as a guide on the bottom to set a 3/16 gap for the bottom to set into…

That’s all for tonite …more to come… thanks for looking… Travis…

Nice work !

Thanks Rooster, I will hopefully have more pics to post this weekend. I have been working a lot of overtime and have not been able to do any work on it… Travis

Yup, sometimes life just gets in the way…

Looks good!

Looking good. Overtime is good. That’s how I buy my live steamers. If it was not for overtime I wouldn’t have half 3/4 of what I have lol…

Sand bin sides finished

Ends and side temporarily fitted together

And set against the Sand House for the foot print length…

Will have more later this week…

Travis; when your done building the sand house, would you be interested in selling the plans. I checked with Brewerplans.com and they don’t accept paypal, I and I done use Credit cards, and Money orders are a pain when you are dealing with cross border purchases.

Dan S.

Looking good!

Dan, The plans were bought by a friend of mine and sent to me to build this model. I may order a set myself to build this later or see if he would sell them…

Thanks Ray…
