If it’s such a successful business, perhaps they will sell it rather than just close it. That would certainly make more sense.
He has a huge e-bay store, too.
Rumors are coming in from dufuss’s that other stores have bought him out.

I did not purchase much by mail order from Al, but I did do a lot of eBay purchases. I always found Al to be cheerful and energetic, instantly responding to email questions related to eBay items. Al, will be certainly missed on the hobby scene. Of late he has been listing a lot of his ‘collection’ on eBay. His real passion is flying, although if retiring, due age, then this too may take a backseat.
