Large Scale Central

Same venue, different loco

so I thort you might like a taste of Yooropean culture in the shape of the BR38. This model is a kit-built Gauge 1 Aster built by pal John Ward. He is still getting used to the lively performance from the new ceramic wicks installed in this very new loco.

Myself I like the new style of couplers they are using these days across the pond.
I was wondering is that a fits all, or a custom sizing?

Ah, you mean the IUCD - International Universal Coupling Device?

Very popular over here, Sir, where we run anything we like with anything else.

Not for us the boredom of a made-up and sensible consist, oooooh no. Bubble-blowing dinosaur cars, nodding giraffe cars, helicopter landing cars or Snoopy cars are all the same to us simple souls.

If only NewBright stuff was readily available here - the nwe could run some seriously wacky stuff.

On a serious note, living in a country where fuel costs around $12 a gallon and where bread is rapidly becoming something that only goes on the table when you have guests, we cut our cloth to the pattern we can afford to wear. Not for us the multiple sixteen car custom built trains that are so common where YOU live. I had to stop buying cars for my Hudson to pull, at #1. Overnight, the price went from $800 each including shipping, to almost $1500 each.

Try laffing THAT off. :frowning:

Thanks, Dave - I’ve already converted two of the Euro green passenger cars to Hungarian versions to run behind my Welshpool & Llanfair ‘Earl’. I’m hoping that the article on how I did it will be appearing in the UK Garden Rail magainze soon.

However skilled I might seem to be, even I would have problems converting them into ‘Grove’ style smoothsiders of the CPR…

There are places selling Newquida aka Amax aka possibly something else here in the UK Terry.

Buffers of Axminster do the AMAX name and Two Jags at Swindon (on-line store) has the other. I don’t have, or need any, but I am reliably told it is great for kitbashing.

Like many I gotta give up buying trains to keep the car tank filled to shop for food. Don’t tell me to walk: I live in a very hilly place not a prairie like your area.

That’s why I’ve used two of them for what I wanted. As the Welshpool & Llanfair only has two Hungarian coaches my work is done. Now IF I could buy another fifteen Canadian Pacific coaches for ~£30 each, I’d be VERY happy.

email me and I’ll send you pics of them - I thort that they had been posted here earlier this year, prehasp I was wrong about that…
