SOLD RY Models EBT 14 – Brass & stainless steel
SOLD
I missed the lottery, otherwise I would have taken it It’s a great price but unlikely I’ll ever own anything in that class.
Yup, it’s a great shame that Rich chose to make an expensive sparky version of a loco that isn’t a whole lot more costy as a live steamer - I’d bet that for most fans of the EBT [Kevin excluded], choosing between one that goes ‘whirrrrrrrrrrr’ and one that goes ChuffChuffChuff with real steam was a no-brainer.

If I had the $ to buy either the electric or live-steam, I’d buy the electric version.
Apologies on joining the chorus…But I wish! That’s a beauty!
Tac, It is interesting to me that people with no intention of buying (or even wishing) bother to post.
I have an RY #14 & #15 and find them excellent scale models that pull prototypical length trains. I also own a #12 which is a nice steamer, but is off the mark as a scale model.
Live steam vs. electric, I appreciate both and each has its place.

You know the answer to your own question… still stirring I see. Rich has only ever built brass electric models and a venture into live steam would have meant finding a builder outside his established circle. The fact that Accucraft, as an established live steam supplier, took YEARS to get the reservations for #12, IN SPITE of announcing it in advance of the RYM version, indicates that there was [is] a very small market for EBT live steam. If Rich Yoder, with NO track record in live steam, had announced his intention to do #14/15 in LS rather than electric, he would still be waiting for the third reservation.
Proof exists of this mind set from the mid 1990s when Wendel Row and Mike Wolfe teamed up to produce a 1:32 SP 2-8-0 in live steam. It was announced as an MTH product. Wendel admits they got less than five reservations… all because MTH had NO track record in that part of the hobby and no one wanted to take the risk of getting a LEMON in live steam.
I have both a #14 and #15 with batteries, AirWire, and Phoenix sound. In terms of realism, these sound far better than the puffy pharts and wheezy whistles on my Asters and Accucraft live steamers, which outnumber my electrically driven steam outline locomotives about 8 to 1.
I am selling this locomotive [part of a complex horse trade] because I don’t need two #14s.
