Rustoleum Leakseal Spray (Black)

I was looking for “Leak Seal” that product where the guy installs a screen door in the bottom of his john boat, then sprays this black stuff and goes for a boat ride. I couldn’t find it, except 2 for $20.00, but I did find this…

I plan to try it on model building roofs, to see how it stands up, It can even be painted with either latex or oil based paints.

Description:
Rust-Oleum Leakseal is an easy to use, rubberized protective utility coating designed to fill and seal leaks and cracks. It provides a water-tight, flexible seal that prevents moisture penetration, rust, and corrosion. LeakSeal dries to a semi-smooth, firm finish that will not sag or drip, and can be top-coated with latex or oil based paints.

I found it at Home Depot, but I guess anybody that sells Rustoleum can get it.

I’ll let you know how it works out.

Yeah…we carry it in the warehouse…I put up a couple cases of it the other day…I think Dad used it for undercoating part of his vintage Volkswagon Beetle…

Ain’t never seen that before Steve (By Rustoleum) that is

Should work great for roofs. Good idea.

We been using it for some time now… It’s great stuff.
We have a small water fountain hanging on side of one of our building that is cement. I keep having cracks and leaking all of the time. Now sealed and painted right over it and can’t even see where we repaired the long big crack.
Its good on cracked Clay planter pots too. Not sure on a boat thro??
We got a can of Clear and Black from our local True Value hwd. for just under 5 bucks.
We must of got ours on a sale… Just ck’ed Home Depot and there’s is $9.95 a can.

Hmmm I gotta birdbath with a crack…its almost empty mebbe I’ll get a can and give it a shot!

I have used it for roof tops of buildings. but I was not satisfied as it did not take the winter very well. It peeled up on the edges. What I have used though messy is liquid bed sealer for truck beds. it is available in 1 qt. sizes at most auto places and Waltmart, Kmart and the like. It seems to bond real well with the polyurethane castings I do as well as WELL CLEANED styrene buildings. Have not tried it on train car roofs.

I wonder how close it is to “Evaporative Cooler Coating” that we use in the SouthWest to waterproof the bottom of the coolers water basin. $8-9 from Walmart for an oversize 20 oz. can. Gummy, sticky, and will waterproof most everything. Rubberized Tar in a can.
