Rust-oleum primer

Here’s the thing, yes its cold and rainy in western Washington, so any painting is going to have problems. The issue isn’t this being the first coat, but rather only after a month or so of priming and sanding has it shown up. I got a new can today, and sprayed again. It turned out better, much like the results I was getting before. It sanded nicely, but still clogged up the paper nut not nearly as much as before. So I think my problem was the 1st can of primer was on its last legs… I’m sure a rough sanding with 120 grit paper would get rid of any residue, but I’m going to stick with 220 as it seems to work. Thanks for the suggestions.

Thanks for the ideas. I will try heating the can in water before spraying and see if that helps. This can is pretty new as I just bought it a few months ago when instated priming. I have to get some more 220 grit sandpaper anyway, so getting another can of primer shouldn’t break the bank. I use Ace verses the big box store because its a 5 minute drive instead of a 30 minute drive down to Gig Harbor. The prices might be a little higher, but its a wash if I have to drive 30 minutes one way to save a few dollars. Plus, I get some “rewards” ($5 off normally) from Ace every time I spent $100… So its a win win for me both ways.

A thought, when I buy any new rattle can I stand it upside down for a day or so, that way if the paint has settled to the bottom of the can it will move to the top and when you turn it right side up you have done a mix.

I do this upside down right side up routine for about a week before shaking the hell out of it for at least a minute then I will start painting.

I live in southern Australia where the weather goes from 40C in summer to 3C in winter, not sure what that is in F.

I keep my cans inside the house all year round as my shed temps are just to varied.

In honor of today, I am in search of some plaid paint.

Found plaid, anyone seen Paisley?

Craig, I suggest driving farther to the big box, where product turn over is more likely.

Paisley? Maybe I should have asked that the locomotive smoke on our tee shirts be paisley instead of plaid.

Nope, I haven’t seen Paisley paint, but I did have a can of tie dye paint at one time. But I think I threw it out. Er, um, sent it to the recycler.

Yea. My company makes vehicle graphics. They did one in a black and white type pattern that reminded me of the dazzle pattern used in WWII. Some peoples’ kids. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-undecided.gif)
