Running Pacific in the snow

Today, I installed a plow blade to the front truck of my Pacific. Then it ran around the HedgeApple RioGram RR for about 2 1/2 hours. Fun, Fun. I ran it because I haven’t seen many Pacifics running in the snow.

Youtube video. http://youtube.com/watch?v=0Qt9lmL_6BM The plow blade is the same blade used on the UP-FA in the " 'booseplow " thread.

Still pictures will be posted tomorrow.

I hope you enjoy.

Jim, you’re having too much fun…

Warren,
Is that a new logo for the New Year? Looks nice.

JIm,

Fun film, thanks for sharing.

Ric, that logo was first introduced on Pie Cart II back in August. Del Tapparo of G Scale Graphics did the original in vinyl. As time permits it will become a nose herald on my standard gauge stuff and will start to appear on home road equipment. CSTS is now the parent company for the StJ&FC as well as my other modeling ventures…(or maybe that should be adventures… )

Great idea!

I meant the logo on your signature on LSC, but you’ve got a great idea there. Happy New Year!

Most of the snow had been previously plowed by my SD45s w/'booseplow and FA/FBs running this same blade. All the Pacific had to do was a bit of cleanup and have fun running. I wish Aristo would build a generic steam plow blade that could be attached to the coupler mount [as above]to be sold as an available accessory. JimC.

neat plow… home built? Kitbashed? inquiring minds want to know…

Jim,

Nice adaption. If all that snow was cleared by that plow, it does a good job.

Bob, The plow originally came off a toy truck I bought on Ebay two years ago. The truck has long been thrown away. You can see the mounting bracket I built in the pics. The plow can be mounted on most coupler mounts in various locomotives with one screw and a washer or two. Rick, As I mentioned above, the SD45 [w/'booseplow] and the FA [w/this blade] did most of the actual snow busting. All the Pacific had to do was some cleanup. The front truck of the Pacific derails too easily to do any serious plowing. It would probably work OK in powder up to 1.5in. http://www.largescalecentral.com/LSCForums/viewtopic.php?id=8196

Keep that plow warmed up. After those storms finish with the West Coaat this week they’ll robably head your way!
That plow looks good and works good.
