RS-3 repaint in UP colors

I got a used RS-3 that was painted blue. I stripped it using the purple Super Clean jug from Walmart. Sure cleans paint off plastic with no harm to it. I soaked the parts for an hour or so, pulled it out(gloves!) and wiped it down with paper towels. Finished up at the sink with a toothbrush. Shot it with primer. FOr the yellow I used XO Rust Yellow, close to UP color, good enuf for me anyway. Stan Cedarleaf did the decals in his usual quick manner. Sent him the data on Th, got a proof on Friday, got that finalized and had the decals in my hands on Monday. He has a good in with the post office or something! Thanks Stan! I put them on before re-assembly so I could clear coat the decals without having to tape off the windows.

Red stripes are vinyl that my wife cut for me on her sign plotter.

Nice !!! Be sure to send that royalty check to Uncle Pete too.

Who’s Uncle Pete?
Tell me about this sign plotter Jerry??

David,
I think he’s referring to UP.
My wife had a sign business, we started out painting them then she got into the computer cut vinyl end of it. Retired a couple of years ago but kept the plotter. It has a cutting head to cut the lettering out of vinyl. It’s what Del Taprio uses for his lettering, can get down to about 1/4". You can weed the vinyl sheet, after cutting, to be letters or remove the letters and use it as a stencil(one time use only). Then you put application tape on it and apply it to your sign/whatever.

Looks good Jerry

Nice repaint Jerry. Now a couple more for those heavy snows.

That’s what I thought you were talking about Jerry (plotter) but wasn’t sure. Would be nice to have one but I really have no need for it with a graphics buddy. Besides it gives me a reason to go over to his shop when he has neat stuff in there like large fire trucks. He lets me play with them!!!
He tried to lure me into the back of a police car he was lettering once…I told him I already know you can get out of the back from the inside I tried several times 15yrs ago.
