Just no ‘dumping’ in the chatroom bar!

Can't ...Bart blew up the outhouse....REMEMBER!

I want o do something smll in my town…I have plans to make a small portable layout to run my live steamers on. Hoping to do that this winter and since I need a lot of space I’ll be building it up to the Masonic Temple in one end of the dining room. If it all works out I’ll be inviting the guys from Western Ny to come run trains too…sort of an impromptu “gathering”… Even better if I can get one or two of the other poratables to come set up too! I plan to start around Christmas time. Maybe sooner?

I’ve wanted to set something up at our local “home show” too but it always falls on a weekend when I’ve got a TON of other commitments. Still if I can go run trains I may draw some other folks out of the woodwork.

The Masonic Lodge would be a great place – likely a membership population of non-participants who may have access to a hobby that they would never consider. I got into building a 0-4-0 Ruby kit simply because I built model racing boats and now the challenge of making a model that ran under its own power was interesting. I did it. The outcome is running it occasionally on a circle of level track for neighbors, visiting relatives, and attending a steam up.

Please continue to report your experience and any generation of interest by Lodge members or others who hear of the project and become interested and participate. The question remains: What draws people into actively participating?

Wendell,
As a member it is someplace I have easy access to that has a large space to set up to run in. The local Mall has lots of space but unfortunately that is also it’s downfall. There is basically no foot traffic in the local Mall anymore. The members would help and run if I let them. I’m hoping to invite the two closest Large scale clubs to come down as well. That being Buffalo & Rochester NY. Need to get in touch with the local Live Steam Community as well. I’d really like this to be more of a small Live steam-up event with some electric trains at it. Not sure at this point how to progress but have several of the brothers from lodge willing to help me.
It’s a start.
