Roundhouse Liberty Belle Cylinder Rebuild

A small job that came through the shops recently was a mint Liberty Belle by Brandbright/Roundhouse.  It was lacking power and has a steam leak in the smokebox.  As the pipe work is all concealed in a sealed smokebox it was necessary to open it up.  Once opened up I found the Steam T Orings shot causing the mail leak along with the cylinders in need of service.

First up was to replap the cylinder deck and valve starting with 320 all the way to 2600 grit using oil based lapping paste on a proper lapping plate to ensure a dead flat surface.  Once complete you can slide the valve across the deck dry and not have any surface damage.

The valve gear linkages and bushings were all in good shape and did not require any change.

The cylinder also needed the bore honed from damage from a hardened Oring

Once finished and cleaned the rest of the parts assembled and set up for reassembly.
