Rounded Coach Ends?

Totally fascinated by Lancaster, Oxford and Southern #10, I’ve gone looking for those rounded coach ends that were advertised for years in NG&SLG. No advertisement. The company also made duck bill roof modifications. Anybody remember the name of the company?

Ric, I think Jerry Barnes did a build on a round end coach. I know I’ve seen a build thread at some point in time but don’t remember where.
What about those Spanish kits that were being made last year that some posted about?

Ric,
I’d use some of the Evergreen siding. It’s .060" thick and should bend around that curve.

I even bought some “Duck Bill” roof tops from the same company, but haven’t found the company name, yet.

Ric I’m posting this link through your request. Please do not blame me for any interest you find in any thing other than the rounded ends

Where are the rounded ends? I didn't see them. Everything else looks pretty cool though  Ralph

If you want, I could probably get you some scale drawings of #10 from the Lancaster Cty Historical Society. If I’d have know sooner I could have picked them up yesterday while I was touring the old LO&S row. They’ve put out a couple of small booklets on some of the rolling stock.

Here’s the present day area where that photo was taken. Weigals MIll is in the background.

Actuially I’d be interested Ken…kinda been noodling witht he idea of turning a Bmann Combine into one of these…

Okay Bart…I sent an email off to a friend of mine to see if he could get me a contact name and number…

That is a really cool car!

Sounds good, Ken.

I found the company I was thinking of. It was in Garden Railways, not the Gazette.

They’ve got a roof kit, that could really help.

After checking price, probably will try Bruce’s idea.

Maybe a piece of 4" PVC pipe for the curve, and glue siding over it? get the curve easy.

I think the hard part is actually the roof and, of course, that dictates the body. But I guess you could cut away the part of the 4 inch diameter you didn’t use.

Now I have another idea to add to the list. Time to start planning!

As for the floor and the roof check out my superliner build and rabbet out the top and bottom. As Bruce stated already I think the Evergreen V groove on a .125 spacing would be a good start but I would be more inclined to go with .040 thickness or less in order to make the curve.
Then build up the rest of the roof on the flat surface. The tricky part would be making the sides off the center raised section but I’m sure it could be done with router bits or perhaps something else creative.
Just my thoughts on how I would probably tackle it?

Hey Rick,
Try www.bronson-tate.com/rs.shtml they sell kits for Carter Bros passenger cars with the same type of roof.

Chuck,

Thanks, I knew there was another source.
