Rotary Snow Thrower FB1 Units For Sale

Description: These are two Aristocraft Powered FB1 Units I purchased from Marty a couple of years back.

The First FB1 unit was installed with a cordless drill motor block, which looks either like a 14.4V or 18V DeWalt cordless drill motor, an 18V Milwaukee battery-pack which operates the Kirby Vacuum blade for the rotary snow thrower.

The Second FB1 unit houses all the electronics. There is a first generation Revolution Receiver and an 18V Milwaukee battery-pack installed which operates the locomotives motor blocks.

In both units the battery-packs are pretty much dead and have been replaced, my suggestion for replacement would be a 18V NiCd HRD (High Rate Discharge) battery-pack.

Please Note: I was going to upgrade both units with a newer operating system (seen in the video link below) but I thought I would leave that decision up to the new owner. I will rewire all the connections and double check all operating systems before shipping.

Price is: $875.00

Thanks,

Wow a piece of history!

Yes, Marty did a great job of putting this all together.

He made the first one I do believe… I bugged the crapp out of him to make mine…(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Yes, that’s it this one and it is for sale!

Rick

I was under the impressiont that at one time you were going to produce and market this. Do you still intend to do this.

I could really use a good snow blower.

Stan

Is this the case of if you have to ask how much it is you can’t afford it, or is it just a secret?

Hi Stan, yes I still intend to do that, but; my attorney has an issue with the legality of injuring someone. So, at this point I’m not sure yet. I have all the parts and accessories ready to go, but we may need customers to sign a waver before shipping?

Vincent, I had the price up there but maybe during my editing I removed it. Well, it’s there again. $875.00 for both.

Yea, I can see where an unguarded metal impeller could be a liability issue. But, if you put a big arse warning label on the top of the thing…

Rick, you could also just make the individual parts available and the customer is responsible for the assembly of the blower section which takes you out of the picture. I’d be interested in parts as I have 2 dead “B” units ready to become a rotary plow. And after receiving over 18" of snow so far this season my railroad is currently shut down.

Rick

I would be very interested in a kit if it will work in New England snow. The plow likely needs to me much lower to clear the track effectively.

USA trains had the same legal issue with its rotary. Their solution was to install a large resistor before the motor which kept the blade rotation safe.

First item I removed.

The problem with the USA trains version is that the blade has a realistic look and when used in snow the blade goes flat and does not grab it.

Stan

Chuck, yes that’s exactly what I intend to do. Offer all the parts with Instructions, then the end user can install the system to their liking.

Stan, the plow is about 1/8 inch above the rails, just enough to clear without catching on something. I think my solution will be a relay with a 12v limit, so the blades will not start until your loco or throttle reaches a certain voltage. But with our demo, I have two 10 amp throttles installed. One to power the loco and another to operate the hammer drill motor block. The kirby blades throw the snow quite well and I have about 10 in stock.

Thanks for the information Rick. I’ll be watching for when the parts are available. Sounds like the start of another project.

Yep something I could use also. I’ll have to watch and see when it becomes available. Later RJD

Rick, you may be able to see all of your “kits” right here.

Chuck, yep…somedays I get an idea that brings on more work that sparks another project!

RJ, I’ll do my best to make it available as soon as possible.

David, someday I hope?
