Rotary Snow Plow's First Run Video/pix

Good run with the rotary on it’s first outing, even with a low battery(goofed up there!) It spins the blade, engines are track powered. I lef them out overnite in the tunnel under the waterfall. Just had to put in the battery. Flanger between the trucks was working good also. More snow is forecast for tonight, so left them in the tunnel again. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewugstqn6LU Still pix: This first one I just pulled it out of the tunnel, did use the board to scrape the snow a bit.

Rest of the pix were taken after the first run, look at the video to see the action.

No caboose?

Great flicks and photos.

Nice - Thanks Jerry

Looks good Jerry. Right after it comes out of your bridge it seems to hop. Bad track or need just a bit more weight?

Looken Good! I am not sure it will do wet snow but I bet it will do dry even up to the top of the blade! WE will have to wait and see! I liked the back up and run at it movements.

Paul

Looked like it worked pretty good!

In the early part it looked like the snow was coming out the top chute but later it must have clogged as it appeared to only be throwing away from the front or am I missing something ? Nice job anyway, most impressive !

Cool.
Hook up another loco or two.
Now snow is another reason to run trains.

Wow. That looks great outside! Very nice work.

Jerry,

I agree with Gary, I think the chute got clogged. Great video! Thanks for sharing.

Nice job Jerry thanks for sharing.

I’ll keep an eye on that clog the next time, this was my first run guys! I was surprised to see the flanger between the trucks doing such a good job. Snow is forecast, so it it’s not too deep in the morning I’ll do it again! Winter can be FUN!

That is awesome. I too noticed that the chute appearred to be plugged. A rotary is on my to do list.

I too noticed the blower chute pluggung up. dont know how to suggest a solution, maybe a bigger chute?or just poke it with a screwdriver every now and then to loosen the plug in the chute

Sleep? Jerry, you've got to work all night to keep the line open.

Looks good Jerry. We have about that much wet snow on the ground this morning on the So Cal desert. You need some wet snow? I believe this storm is headed your way!

Woke up to about 6-8" of snow this morning. Gave it a try but traction was a problem, need more weights in them I guess. Drill chuck came loose, so the rotary was not working(fixed it later) So got out the push plow and tried that for the first time. Still a traction problem. This has been a learning experience and I’ve had great fun with it and got some nice pix out of the deal. These stills show the snow flying better and on the bridge you can see the plow pushing the snow off pretty well.

Thats awsome. Nothing beats running in the snow. I have more fun that way. I guess that storm that hit you is going to hit me tonight with 3-5 inches of snow and then turning to freezing rain. Too bad I have to work tomorrow. Oh well.

Nothing? ;) How about having a cold beer while you switch the local? :D

I admire you guys that run in the snow. I did it one time one winter a long time ago. Beer, summer, and trains works better for me.

I do like the pictures, though!

Snow is up to the bottom of the bridge now , got about 10" so far.
