Nice snow here on my birhtday, so I celebrated with a snow clearing of the track. Dash 9 I got from Marty really helped get it around. I think I need a faster drill motor for the blade though.
Happy Birthday, Jerry! I hate snow, but a rotary might make it fun…… for a little while.

Jerry, I’ve waiting for you to roll out the beast! Lokking good.
If your snow plow is battery operated, just add two or three volts to the battery. That should do the trick.
Ya what Steve said More Power (Batt.)!
…it would help if the snow was the correct scale, or at least less sodden with water…it seems like there was less “Blowing” of the snow, and more ploughing, due to the moisture content of the snow.
Nice to see that you are having fun, and enjoying the Winter season…!!
It did look like your snow was too wet to throw even if you had more power.
I have a 12volt drill in mine with a 12volt closed cell battery for power. I could use a few more volts but that battery lasts a real long time. I had used the battery that came with the drill but that faded after about 10 minutes of use.
That is one good looking rotary it just needs the proper snow to shine.
Doesn’t matter. You still got outside and played with trains. A good day in my book.
I’ve got a 18v battery on it, Ron Senek suggested that. I think I was just running it too fast, that dash 9 will push it along without having to get up to speed like the RS-3 I used to use.
Pretty cool.
Great looking plow train you’ve got there. I really like the plow service tank car.
But I’ve been wondering what the tank is used for on the prototype? I think the modern UP rotaries are diesel electric. So why the need for a water supply tank? Do the UP rotaries use steam heating or something like that?
I’m currently working on a plow train tank car (0471) for my Rio Grande narrow gauge rotary trainset. The prototype held extra water for the steam powered rotary.
I do believe that the UP rotaries do have a steam generator in them. It’s also has a Steam pipe/ hose that can be used for clearing switches and built up ice in the “works”.
From watching a recent video they were made from F7s.
Cool video Jerry. Layout looks great in the snow.
