That looks to be in rough shape. Plans to rebuild/restore?

Pictures were taken at Silverton several years ago. Maybe Dave Taylor knows the answer.

I plan on building one for my Rotary MOW train.

At this time… I have heard of Zero intent to restore or to use 04963 for anything…The D&S keeps those thing close to their chest.

FYI: D&RGW boxcars… The 4000 series are an older set than the newer 3000 series boxes. As they (4000 series), were removed from service, the better conditioned ones were turned into a fleet of “Service” or MOW cars. they made tool cars, water service cars" B&B service cars, bunk cars and cook ( kitchen) cars from them… When they went into the MOW service they kept the same original number, but added a “0” in front.
Then in the early '20’s when the 3000 series cars were wearing out… they set up an assembly line in Alamosa, and stripped them down to the bare nothing, saving the metal parts, and completely built a brand new wood car, and kept the old numbers… all new car, same old numbers ( it was actually a tax dodge, and side step to the FRA regulations)
