Welp, I took the first step and joined cause if I don’t do it now I’ll forget. Quite honestly if I have to spend $35 on anything I ain’t taking another step. I do know what I’m going to work with though however I don’t do plans so it’s all in my head
.
A very dangerous place to keep it.
Glad you threw your hat in the ring, Rooster. Look forward to seeing your craftsmanship on display.
Double napkin drawing and all I’m doing is wasting paper. This is exactly why I do not do drawings. However I think I’m keeping the theme.
Working off the scrap pile wall. Using up 1/8" clear acrylic and PVC board scraps with other scraps of styrene, wood, composite board, aluminum, O-gauge and O-27 wheels and axles that’s been in a box since I built the Brandt Hi Rail Kenworth.
SO in case you haven’t figured it out from my multiple napkin drawings the plan is to build a gym for the crew which will fit inside the current OSC car I am presently working on. Actually for that matter it will fit into any Aristo Smoothside or the shorter Streamliners as I’m doing 2,3 or 4 piece modules however it works out.
On an off topic side note, I have spent 70% of my life as an automotive (flat rate) technician mainly on upper end import vehicles and I have some millwright in me as well. So the faster you work correctly, cleanly and safely the more money you make. With that said I am working at my own pace and I was sorta tooled up to begin with.
Today I worked on the weight lifting area and the treadmills. Yes, the treadmills have mirrored blue screens.
Again junk materials of choice, aluminum, acrylic and pvc board. The barbells are the O and O27 wheels/axles I mentioned in the beginning.
LOOK at Grover go…right on man !!!..
Dude he’s starting with the cast metal O27 wheel set and is now up to “double stack” TOFC sand filled plastic.
Bonus shot …
Well Bruce,
I suppose it’s time to start getting it outta my head and into yours as it’s Tuesday and Tuesdays are good. Besides this was in my head last weekend and I got this weekend coming up. So materials were cut up for this as paint and glue dried on the other plans.
Kinda what I’m thinking as the crew needs a sauna in the gym right? However this 1;1 is a bit on the heavy side so I wanna lighten it up a bit.

OH MY!!!
O I wish I had a sauna
FWIW, here’s precedent for a mobile sauna which I saw in a chilly mountain area of New Zealand. Notice the smoke from the stove. It was backed up to the shore of a small lake, and snow had been all around a couple days prior.
@Neil_Wiggins, is that a thing down there?
Cliff,
I do not need your assistance as you are doing nothing but bringing back frightful memories!
I was railfanning in Lebanon County one day and this guy was spotted leaving one of those things you posted. All I remember was goats running everywhere afterward and the birds all blew outta the trees like they saw a hawk with not a squirrel in sight?
I managed to capture this quick pic but mind you it is frightful to even think about what happened in that barrel that day.
Later I see this same guy directing traffic??
Then to ice the cake there he is again running down the grade after directing traffic?
Thanks for the input however I’ll keep you outta my head and I certainly do not want into yours.

First portable sauna I’ve seen Cliff, but the build looks a lot like the popular wood fired hot tubs around.
So, not a thing - luckily! You’re as safe as you can be Rooster.
Cheers
N
Finished early at work cause it’s Friday so I put in about 2 hrs play time today. Working on the sauna along with accessories and necessities.
No money spent so far and working with basic materials (scraps and cut offs)

So today I was into the thin ripped redwood scraps I have saved for years. Why that is I don’t know but glad to have them now. They make prefect flooring and the back walls are made of that same yew wood I was using on the bar interior.
The clear acrylic is cool but it’s not forgiving of any mistakes cause there ain’t no sand it out and repaint. It is what it is and if you don’t like it you redo it.
I decided from the beginning I was going to light this up. Why? cause I have a ton of colored 5mm LEDs. I take them to the bench grinder and make however I need them. The bench seats were ground down into rectangles and the sauna hot stones are just a stock round 5mm LED. Nothing is fixed in place yet just testing out the floor plan. I love the lighting but I hate to solder and I won’t use them anyway as I’m usually in bed by 8pm.
I also worked on a easel so I can relax in the gym myself.
I decided to dig out some old prints I have owned for quite sometime and possibly frame them for a gallery. I’m honestly leaning towards a gold leaf frame but I fear it might make the gentleman’s ass look fat so perhaps a black frame as it has that “slimming” look or at least the women at Walmart think so.

Love the sauna & its woodwork! And the lighting is superb!
I don’t know if I’m influenced, infamous, or what, But Dammmm thats what attracts all the fine ladies…
Dave you are correct the ladies flocked to you and Mik in the sauna today!
After you guys were finished I cleaned the place up a bit an invited some company of my own.
Today was figure out electrical paths and soldering, I hate to solder but I’m getting better at it. Suppose half the problem is I’m using a mechanics iron/gun from like 1985.
“Note to self”…put that on my birthday list or just say screw it and just buy it myself cause the boy ain’t gonna remember anyway.
I slid the modules together just to see where I’m at and besides I wanted to get the guys out.
What’s awesome is I have collected quite a few guys that are “Large Scale” over many years and once these modules are done I can clean up and get ALL my guys out !!! First string, second string, third string is light as budget is tight.
Bonus shots with light’s on in the “shed”…

BTW …The acrylic did screw up my zero throat clearance plate and dinged up my custom fence!
