Rooster 9,999

Why is David Russell stuck on 9,999 posts, and who will have the honor of his 10,000th post?

I didn’t know you could pile it so high!(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

If anybody can pile it that high, it’s him…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

I do not see a “David Russell” as a member here (again)! I do see a chickens##t “Rooster” though (again). (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-undecided.gif)

It seems a little strange to allow people to change their names, I liked the forum rule that you had to use your real name. Several forums had this.

I’m not applying this to rooster, since everyone knows who he is, I’ve seen his picture on the walls in the post office.

Greg

Greg; I’m with you. Real names, please.

The trouble with letting one person use a phony name, is that suddenly you have a whole bunch of people doing the same childish thing, and suddenly you have just another MLS, where you seldom can figure out who in hell you are trying to share knowledge or information with, unless you buy a program…or are a daily poster. New people never know who they are trying to talk with. Then there are those that for one reason or another, are paranoid about their ex wife, or something, looking for them…or is it the bill, or tax collectors.

And we’ve been over this 100 times in the last 15+ years. We know who 99% of the people with nicknames are. Period. Full Stop.

Fred, where’s your sense of humor?..(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

I don’t normally like using my real name because of the job I have. I can see why some people would not use it especially in some jobs. A simple google search of that persons name will bring them to all the forum posts etc… For the longest time I was just Snowshoe, sometimes I wonder if I should go back to it. Not that our names are safe anyway but it makes it much easier for strangers to see where and what you post.

Yeah, I used to use a nickname, hoping it would hide the truth…but I’m still a dork.

I am all for real names too. Its is hard for me to give advice on another forum, with a straight face, to ChooChooman, or or explain, with a straight face, the difference between a E5 and an E6 to GMDEMDfan.

But, as Bob said, we know the folks who hide behind nicknames here. So the few we have here don’t bother me. And if a grown man wants to be known as a chicken, so be it. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-undecided.gif)(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)

At the risk of incensing Bob, the thing I think is strange is allowing people to change their names whenever. (that was first in my post)

I went to look up a post at one time and the person had changed his name I could not find his post.

Also, there are several people who are indeed trolls and have created users under fake names or have several logins and are indeed trying to conceal who they are. I usually figure this out after the third post or so.

But as a forum owner/moderator, I know it’s difficult to police new people, not everyone has an email that matches their real name.

So I don’t see a big issue here, although I do wish Rooster would keep the same identity for at least a year at a time. Otherwise I have a helluva time finding Amtrack car posts ha ha!

That’s all.

Greg

People on forums using alias names and whimsical avatar pictures…the horror, the horror…whats next cats and dogs sleeping together! Chaos reigns I tell you…chaos reigns.

I will be genuinely interested to see what will break the silence and make the rooster crow or will it be making the hen cackle

Sure, I could use my real name, but then I think you guys might feel a little uncomfortable having to address me as “Your Majesty” all the time.

I think real names are a must among friends! (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

I am starting to feel guilty. After seeing all the negative reaction to nicknames I am beginning to think I should use my real name. . .
