Romanian logging track gauging stake

“Remarks & Notes
Track condition on Romanian forestry railways are sometimes worrying. They way they “repair” them is worrying too. With a chain they bring the rails together while a worker hammers a wooden stick in the ground to fix the rail there.”

"Remarks & Notes

Real live at forestry railways in Romania! In 2006 I let them rebuilt a loading ramp to demonstrate manual loading of logs. In 2017 we could still use the wooden ramp. 764 469 safes the wagon from rolling down while the lumberjacks rolling one log after each other on the tucks."

  1. go to the page where you see the picture.

  2. right click on the picture and select view image… (you should now only see the picture)

  3. right click on the picture again and select copy image location (the real address of just the picture)

  4. hit the little picture icon in your LSC editor

  5. past the address you copied into the “source” box.

  6. optionally you can scale the picture down, after pasting the picture, go to the FIRST dimensions box and change the number to 800, for example (the other box will automatically change to preserve the aspect ratio)

You are done.

Except for when I think not doing that maybe saves LSC a few mites of bandwidth which are used to show the image on the page.

How big is a mite of bandwidth? (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-undecided.gif)

You may have a point Forrest!

The interesting thing is that the picture was there, the link is there, but the picture is gone now… let’s see if John’s post has the picture disappear too after a while.

Ahh, it won’t because John copied the picture and saved it. Actually by slicing off the Railpictures.net part you are violating their copyright. If my link made them upset, your removal of the ownership info will really piss them off.

Be careful when copying a picture and cropping off who owns it, that particular site charges…

Greg

Works for me

Their “gauge repair technique” . . . . reminds me of some of the make shift repairs going on in the shipyard where I worked many years ago.

Thanks for posting . . . .

John, I have run afoul of railpictures.net when I put some of their pictures up on my site…

Even the direct link to the picture is outside their policy, which I have copied here below.

I just wanted you to know that they can and have come down hard on people, would hate to put LSC on their s**t list!

link to policy: http://www.railpictures.net/usage/

If you knew all that, why did you suggest Forrest post the pics?

Another big do about nothing?

This and rule #1 in 2 daze?

Why?

At least if the loco goes on the ground it is a short drop. Rails are well buried.

John.

  1. I was trying to be helpful, and making the pictures display STILL shows the copyright from railpictures.

  2. then when my posts disappeared, I decided to investigate and noticed the links were still there, but somehow expired (you can see some funny stuff in the link)

  3. then john copied the picture and cropped off the copyright, which I knew was trouble

  4. so I went to the site and looked up the usage rules

  5. as soon as I found that we were in violation for copying the pictures or displaying them without copyright I notified people

So, taking the high road and answering you John C. even though you really don’t care about the explanation, and just want to give me a hard time (clearly by you inclusion of another unrelated thread), are you happy now?

Why don’t you just start a thread abusing me, and keep adding to it… if it will stop this stuff, I promise to appear on the thread each day so you can abuse me without derailing the other threads on this fine site. You know you can also email me and abuse me… and if it’s really important to you, I’ll give you my cell phone and dedicate some time each day.

Well it would be nice but I have better things to do myself Greg .

Remember the fresh water that feeds into the toilet is still fresh water that feeds into the toilet and is safe to drink. Perhaps you should mix up a batch of Kool Aid in your toilet tank (by hand) then see if it’s leaking into the bowl in the morning. Leaky toilets raise the water bill but toilets that have no water to feed them cannot leak.

Parables of Rooster :Chapter 69 verse 13

Wow…these guys look like they’re working for a living, and they’re no spring chickens either.

Rooster, my post starts with JOHN…

Was not addressing you…

Thanks for jumping in, so pleasurable.

I love a good parable.

This suffices. Thanks.
