Rolling stock carrier

Even though I have a new storage facility, I still need to carry some of my rolling stock. My last ones were built from wood - this time I tried styrene with an acrylic handle. Velcro holds the keepers in place.

Once you glue that strap back in place, how do you get the box car out?

I think the strap underneath is too weak, it’s sagging already. I’d be concerned about it damaging some underbody detail.

Looks like a start, but will be interested in your responses.

You might consider putting 2 rails under the cars, and turning them on edge for more strength. What would happen if you spaced them so the were just inside the wheels?

Regards, Greg

The strap is held on by velcro.

There is some sag. The cars rest on their axles. If their is some detail that is below this, I’ll put them in my shed.

Bruce,

What kind of distance? Inside to outside or Carlyle, Il. to York, PA? I use the plastic under the bed storage system containers and with bubble wrap they work pretty good. But always looking for another source.

Ric,
Both. While I haven’t used the plastic one for any great distance, I did use my wooden ones to carry some cars to the Invasion. These are basically the same principle. They double as storage and carrier and can be stacked if necessary. Now, if I could find some boxes that could easily hold 4 and be easily carried with one hand, I’d probably switch.
