No Rooster not Mr Rogers. My Aristo Rogers got its long overdue makeover. This was the old REA I got from Vic. I decided to take the coal buker off the back and add the slopeback tender since non of my engines have tenders. I mainly repainted the engine/tender and added details and weathered it.
AAAH! all that work gone?
oh well, guess it came out pretty nice though…
Vic The coal bunker is still in good shape waiting for a future project.
…grinning…
Nice addition. Though I do believe the front coupler is a little short
Shawn, nice looking unit…
But, but, but, but…It STILL looks like a Rogers… Ya just put lipstick onna pig is all
Shorten the smokebox and front overhang… Fatten the chimney with a sleeve so it doesn’t have that odd step innit anymore… Since you have a tender, get rid of the back 1/3 of the cab with the doors… Mebbe explain to me why the lubricators on the steam chest have lines running to the smokebox at all (I know you didn’t do it, I just never figured out why they did it) just get rid of it all and replace it with thin lubricator lines coming from under the tank to the steam chest… extend the coal bunker on the tender a bit, so it holds more than 15 minutes worth of coal… Change out either the headlight or back up light so they match…
Still, it IS a rather nice job of detailing (Until the axe vibrates off and gets run over. – Think prototypically, secure it to the sand line with a bit of ‘rope’ and a slipknot!)… At least those things pull real good, and as long as you’re happy with it, I’m happy for ya!
Mik, thanks for the info I didnt even notice the lub lines. Thats an easy fix. Good idea with cutting the cab that should be an easy fix as well and will look much better. The is a little more involved then im willing to do. Looks prototypical for the KMRR LOL.
Shawn, If I find the NoS Rogers stack that’s floating around here, I’ll put a sleeve on it and send it to you… If the REA version is like the later Aristo it just pulls off and plugs in with a built in 1/8" mono headphone jack.
