Rogers 2-4-2 Battery Conversion

Hello again all,

I’m planning on buying a Rogers 2-4-2 and I’m having some trouble deciding what system I should go with to power it. I want to get off of track power even if it means a simple flick the switch and go like G Scale Graphics basic critter control. I’m not really sure if I want to go with R/C unless there’s a easy to install system, I think I want to go with a basic system so I don’t get ahead of myself with complex wiring and end up with something that might not work. Sound and smoke doesn’t really concern me.

Anyone here convert their 2-4-2 to battery power that might be able to help, or those who are experts at this sort of thing. Also is Aristo-Craft’s train engineer easy to install in the locomotive? (I imagine since their from the same company) there’s so many choices!

Caleb I have two of the Roger engines one is the REA and the other is the new Aristo but they both are track powered. I plan on converting one to track power/battery power using the simple critter control. I just have not had a chance to start taking the engine apart and seeing what it looks like wire wise. When I do I will let you know. Im thinking it will be a good winter project.

Alright that sounds good. I’m curious as to what the wiring looks like, I might end up having to gut it all out anyway if I decide to use simple Critter Control. I’m also looking forward to a lot of winter projects this winter for my railroad.
