Rods K-27 Bash, finished at last!

Hoo-flaming-ray. After nearly 4 years off and on the albatross has finally landed.

It’s actually been finished for alittle while but I have been waiting for the right light and the time to do it justice. There are quite a few picturs so I have added a gallery page to the site. You can see tham at http://www.smegworld.org.uk/spaf/k27/log/kgal.htm I am now going as far away from this thing as possible for today.Talk to later Cheers

Very nice. Hard to believe that it started as a Bachmann 2-8-0. I like how you did the log as well.

Impressive! Congratulations for a job very well done.

Rod,
It looks like you should have been consulting Bachmann and showing them how to do it. Nice work.

Is that showing what is meant by inside cant cylinders?

YUP!

I want one of those…not the Bachmann version…that one. Damn! That’s nice!!

Superb model Rod. Thanks for sharing.

Rod:

Congratulations. Your K-27 is just superb!

In addition to the high level of detail and the perfection in construction, I really like the ‘weathering’: Just enough to show that it’s an "in-use’, but not abused machine.

You set a very high standard for LS locomotive construction and modeling!!

Happy RRing,

Jerry Bowers

Beautiful!

So, a K-27 has 40" drivers and a wheelbase of 11’ 5". The K-28/36/37s have 44" drivers and a wheelbase of 12’ 3".

Scale a 1:20.3 K-27’s chassis to 1:22.5, and you get 45" drivers and a 12’ 7" wheelbase. That’s pretty darned close…

I see a whole line of new projects, and a helluva high mark to follow.

Later,

K

Kevin, that high mark is for the rest of us. You and Bruce…no sweat.

Thanks guys, its back to the day job today.

cheers

I would love to know where he got that set of drawings from. I would love a set. great job thanks for sharing, Robert.
