Rocky Mountain Express at IMAX

My lovely wife found this movie on line this morning and said we had to go. We just got back and I want to share this with y’all. It’s a very good railroading movie about the building of the transcontinental Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR). It features the restored #2816 The Empress 4-6-4 (Hudson) steam loco and great photography. Only 45 minutes long, but my kind of movie.

Below is the trailer…

The IMAX here in Spokane closed, recently, a victim of the digital age. It was built for the 1971 Worlds Fair, and I saw The Polar Express there, but that was the last feature film that ran in 70mm. They tried to limp along on shorts, but finally gave up last year. I saw the Directors cut of Laurance of Arabia there twenty years ago. That was awesome.

Steve,

Doesn’t down town at the big theatre complex play Imax?

I have no idea. I don’t get out much. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)
