Road trip

I have the next ten days off and my wife is in the mood for a road trip. In about an hour we are off to Lancaster area for a few days or until we get bored. We plan on doing the railroad stuff, Strassburg, choo choo barn, dutch wonderland. I would also love to maybe stop by and see some Garden RR’s in the evenings and that are not too far. Rooster and Hollywood how far are you guys? Not sure where we are staying yet will decide when we get their. Anyone have any recomendations on stuff to see and do? Just post here and will check back and anyone willing to show their RR call me send me an e-mail with your number. Should be their by late afternoon.

Your always welcome to stop here. I’m about 45 minutes east of Lancaster. Hollywood’s across the river and Rooster’s about a half hour away west.
RR Museum Of Pa, Toy Train Museum, Dutch Wonderland is a great spot for the kids. Amish Village on RT 896. Not to mention the Rockvale Outlets for the wife.

fprgot to mention Hershey Park is about a half hour away and another great spot for the kids. Landis Valley Farm Museum.

Here’s a link for a bunch of attractions in the area: http://www.padutchcountry.com/activities/lancaster-attractions.asp#1

Shawn, i’m only about 14 hours from Lancaster…

And I’m less than 6  Unfortunately, your house is on the way.

Ken’s place is on my list. Been to Rooster’s & Hollywood’s place. Both fun railroads to operate; especially since your a circular type of guy

Shawn, it’s short notice but if you care to stop by Wednesday evening or Thursday anytime I’d be glad to have you over. I just need to do a little weed removal. You can bring your stuff, I’m track powered. E-mail and I’ll give directions and a phone #.

Dave

Thanks guys. We just got to Lancaster (paradise) Off to dinner. Dave send me your number and hopefully we can work something out. The trip was a last minute thing very last minute LOL. As of now we plan on doing Strasburg, dutch wonderland. Not sure how many days we are staying yet just playing by year.

And that should give you plenty of time to see all the sites around here. :)

What year?

BTW Bass Pro Shops has a very nice (very kid friendly) facility in Harrisburg…just up 283 and the Middletown Hummelstown RR with Indian Echo Cavern is at the end of the line . I would recommend it with the kids! Hershey Chocolate World is free and recommended as well…However during the week at day time hours I believe Ken’s drive time is a bit off.
