RLD open house is next weekend, anybody going??

Next weekend, Oct 7th and 8th is the open house at RLD hobbies. Was thinking about going over on Saturday, but if its gonna be a ghost town addendance wise, then its not worth the 4 hour each way drive. Anybody from here going? I have seen little to nothing about this on this forum or over across the street on MLS. My friend was gonna bring his LGB Amtrak passenger train and his high hood SD45 that Robbie just did a battery conversion to. I was gonna bring my LGB Frank S live steamer and my battery powered Autism Express passenger train. Mike

I’ll be there one day, probably Friday

Am planning on stopping by on Saturday, providing it’s not pouring down rain…

wish you could make it on Saturday Aaron, I could get the Casey Jones engine back to you for rehab. Mike

Somebody close to “Robby” should suggest that if he wants to stage an open house; he could post a notice on this web page in the appropriate forum, at no charge, and would open the door to more of his customers, or potential customers, to visit…it would be good publicity, for one of the better sources of Large Scale supplies in the mid West, to Easter sections of North America…

Too many “Dealers” don’t take advantage of good opportunities like this Web Page.

Fred, he usually does post something about it. But its almost like its top secret this year. He does have it posted on the shop website. But no updated pics of the shop or the layout yet. I am guessing that life is keeping him to busy to PR the shop they way we all think it should be done. I think he did make a post about the open house dates months ago, but then nothing as the months went by. Mike

I’ll be there friday and for a a little while on saturday.

Robby doesn’t check the message boards very often. He’s had the notice on his website for a while. I know on the g scale facebook page they were talking about his open house. I think Rocky had made a post.

Mike, unfortunately i’m working Saturday, unless it rains. but If you come then and I’m not there, you could maybe pass it along to Andy Clarke, he lives just 45 minutes from me, i could get it from him later on then.

I can do that if we make it to the open house. Mike

Sounds good. Ill be at Andy’s run session the following weekend, I can pick it up then

You might give Andy a heads up so he knows I have a package for him. Thanks. Mike

Mike, I’ve been reading it… Trust me, It will cost Aaron… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-sealed.gif)

I figure once Aaron rebuilds it, hopefully much more durable than it was as I cant get even the hand rail mounts to stay glued to the boiler, then I can have it brought back to RLD next year for pickup as its way to fragile to ship. I am all packed up, bringing my custom Autism Express passenger train and going to try to pull with the original Kalamazoo 4-4-0. I had to “doctor up” the axle gears as they started slipping on the axles. Need to order up new ones from Hartland one of these days. I do have one of the squat 2-4-0 engines from LGB that was give to me, but doesn’t look as good pulling the old time cars. Then I will have my LGB/Aster Frank S pulling 4 Euro passenger cars, one of which is another custom Autism Awareness car I made up on my own before I had Stan do decals for the express. Mike

sorry, just getting back on after a couple of days. Do I want to know what that bill is Andy hahaha

Aaron, we never connected…

However the engine is at RLD for the next time one of you two get by the shop. Its up on the shelf above Robbie’s shipping area. Had a great time, was quite busy early saturday morning but thinned out quickly by noon. Shame as the weather was beautiful all day. A few wrecks, mostly from wind blowing cars off the track. This could easily become the new spring or fall or both meet up for MLS and the guys here. But thats up to us to make that happen by showing up. Plenty of room for this to grow! Mike and Michele T

well, I’m sure ill get out that way again soon, Robbie may or may not have a couple other things in his shop i’m interested in, that is if Andy didn’t load all of it into his truck already hahaha. Friday was great, but a few train derails due to some wind.

Wind caused havoc on Saturday as well. Robbie moved hit truck and trailer to one end of the layout to act as a wind break. That helped some, atleast at one end of the layout. Robbie is talking about moving the fall open house back into September as its less windy but might be hotter so more canopies would be needed for shade. Lots of room to grow this into the replacement for the meet at Marty’s. Even Marty said that folks need to go to this meet to replace his starting next year. Mike
