I have to give kudos to Robby at RLD Hobbies.
I placed an order for some aluminum track. I received an e-mail from Robby saying delivery would be in 6-8 weeks. I wasn’t too happy, as I wanted to install the track before spring.
I called Robby to cancel the order. Robby was very nice and offered to send me an equal amount of a more expensive track from another company, at no extra cost.
A big thumbs up to Robby and RLD Hobbies. They have now joined Ridge Road Station on my very short list of approved vendors.

I’ve always had very good experiences with RLD. They’re my first choice vendor, Robby seems like a standup guy. Ugly website though. Ridge Road is my usual number two
Yeah,
The web-site is a bit hard on the eyes. I’m using red and black on one of my shortlines. But it just doesn’t work on the web-site.
Ralph
RJ and all,
I, too, have been very pleased with Robbie and RLD. The communication is great. Robbie goes out of his way to help find items desired. RRS has also very good to me with feedback and other customer service.
Hopefully tomorrow, I will get a set of F3-A/B Rio Grandes from RLD.
JimC.
Thanks for the tip on a new place to try! The website is a little…strenuous to look at…my brain hurts…ugh!
Robby is good people… Was just out at his shop on Monday…
He’ll usually go out of his way to help, with any kind of modeling request…
He’s a top-notch fellow.
Went to his site a couple weeks ago.
Saw an after Christmas sale on Accucraft brass cabeese for $199.00.
Spent about 2 minutes too long making up my mind.
Noticed they went to $219.00 a few minutes later.
Went up stairs to get my wallet and when I got back they were $419.00.
I don’t call that good…
I also notice that the Accu stuff isn’t available as singles except for a passenger car and a tank car.
I don’t want a 4 pack.
And even when RRS Accu wasn’t on sale, it was a better buy.
I got nothing against Robby; don’t know him.
hehe Keeps his web site up-to-date.
John, I’m sorry to hear that experience. Did you contact Robby about it?
I have never had him NOT “make it right”, or give me a reasonable explanation.
Regards, Greg
Robby is outstanding to deal with!!! Ridge Road would be second only if Rob did’nt have it.
John,
Your reporting of your ordering experience for “cabeese” from Robby is a mystery.
Consider: $199.00 to 219.00 raised to 419.00 in a matter of minutes is, at best, unusual.
You apparently entered the site each time you left and returned - or how else could the price change on screen?
While bizarre, is it possible the site is set for price increases based on the persistence of inquiry per any single product? Hard to picture a human purposely resetting the price as each inquiry occurs.
While not understandable, what rationale is there for such rapid price increases in such a short time?
Any insight from others or Robby?

Having done some website work. It could be possable that they were doing updates on the site and the wrong price got put in. When they did a check of the site they saw this and corrected it. Some sites do whats called live updates. (I think that is the term) me I do all my updates off line and check them that way then go live with it. Just a guess and given the size of the site very possable more then one person doing updates as well.
I entered and left the site.
I figured it was a mistake.
Those units have a small markup over dealers cost, and $199.00 or even 219.00 is way-way-way below his cost.
I’m curious if I had actually purchased one at that price, would Robby have let me know it was a mistake.
I’m sure, going by what you’ll have said about him here.
Like I said, no foul.
I wonder if he would break up 4 packs? Guess I’ll ask him.
