Well done!
I’m pretty happy with it, though after painting, I think I need to make it a little dirty.
I’ve been thinking about applying the K Strong patented weathering technique, but a little nervous about doing it just prior to the modelling comp on the weekend. Still, I’d like to colour the rods a more realistic weathered metallic colour, like nice oiled rods. Any suggestions anyone?
Cheers
Tony
That paint job really makes it stand out. It looks great!
Looks great in the paint. For the siderods, get some powdered lock lubricant (graphite) and rub it on with a Q-tip. It gives them a nice metalic look without having to repaint anything. (It’s also good for smokeboxes!)
Later,
K
Thanks Kevin
I’ll give that a whirl tonight and see how it goes.
Cheers

Tony, Your loco looks fantastic! Hard to believe it started as an annie!!Keep up the good work, If I were judging the contest I’d give you 1st place!! Hope you win… Dave
Great bash Tony. Good luck in the contest.
Dave
Thanks gents
Dipped out on the prize at the modelling comp. The loco was put in the top shelf of a display cabinet and all you could see was the unpainted bits under the running board etc, so it looked half done. No matter, I built it to run on the railroad, not to win comps (still, would’ve been nice but!).
Cheers

Too bad. No matter, we all love it
At first I wasn’t painting the undersides either. The thinking was, who’s going to see it ?
After a derailment or two, I went back and painted the undersides.
