For those who are always looking for a new PoV (I plead guilty) this is one solution. Mind you if CP Police ever catch up to him, it will be more than just a $235 fine. That spot is not right adjacent to the highway. I wonder if Larry (CPP) knows about that?
Oh Oh, so you âduct tapedâ the camera to a tie and then hid in the brush.
Great vid tho
Not me Randy, not me! Iâm on a first name basis with the CP cop for that area, I wonât be pulling that kind of a stunt ⌠except perhaps right by a road crossing.
And I donât have a GoPro cam either. Not yet, anyway, but itâs under consideration. If I can convince SWMBO that we âreally need oneâ if we ever go for the WhiteWater trips.
Hans! Up against the wall!
First name basis, huh?
YeahâŚrightâŚ
Nah ⌠we just shoot the breeze or anything else that is in season.
BTW it doesnât hurt to know some of those people. The engineers will give that extra horn blast, the RTCs provide the extra line-up info and at least the one roadmaster gives me extra permission for my âin-depth studiesâ of the infra structure i.e. no reason to pull dumb stunts on the sly.
Hans⌠You were lucky. One of our buddy yrâs ago did that just out side of Roseville yard where a train was doing around 40 mph and his cam corder ended up in 1,000 pcâs.
We think something was hanging down under or off of a car that hit it when cam was setting in the center of the tracksâŚlol.

Thatâs not my video. Itâs from a section of CP that Iâm quite familiar with and if Larry would have been out there or if he by chance sees that video âMrBogey679â will have his a⌠in a sling.
While I was in Alberta the other week I met one of the CN âBig Wheelsâ while filming. He was checking something on a train that was âstuckâ and standing on the other side of the double track when a freight came through. I figured itâs one of the crew of the stranded rig doing the âroll-byâ inspection. He was curious what I was doing there and asked me if I was aware that thereâs a danger zone around railway tracks. I quoted him the safety set-back distances while I handed him one of my cards. He said âit looks close, but I wonât pace it offâ. Had a nice chat about trains and model railroads and what a meany his brother was when they were kids, he never let him play with his trains.
Then my squawking scanner kicked in. âWhat? You have a radio, too?â Grinned, shook his head and wished me a good day.
