Rides

With my dad being an old hot-rod builder, I’ve seen lots of rides come and go through his shop as a boy. And then myself as a young punk, I had a few 50’s and 60’s stuff. So I’ve always loved cars. Now at 62, here is what my wife and I just bought. This oughta be good–an old grey haired couple just cruising. Corvette powered. All the bells and whistles.

JB,

I’d call that a delayed midlife crisis vehicle. hehehehe
BTW how’s your 401K holding up?

Hans,
I lost 50% of my IRA before I got smart and moved it to a “no-loss” money market account.

Yeah, it’s a completely useless two seater. At least I can put a loco or a couple cars in the back.

And its 'merican.

Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez John If I only had know you could’ve had a V8 no pun intended. The Regal Yes its for sale too.

Swwwweeeeeeeat.

Nice ride john and yes you should have room in back for some trains.

Jerry,
I never would have known you were a hot-rodder too!
See, we have two things in common.
Nice coupe!
Keep it.
You will prolly regret you sold it later.
That’s what happened to me after my 52 Merc and 53 Chevy left.

I’d be happy with either ride, the convertable or the coupe. Both very nice.
Happy to see you found some Detroit iron, JB.
Ralph

You're probably right John but I have just lost interest in it and it just sits in my garage covered and collecting dust!!! Besides that it's where my waist high trestle and the north block wall where my trains will be housed, and train setup area, where i stage and run down through the wall or window to my ground level track WILL BE LOL if i ever sell the car. You're right though I'll probably be sorry when i do SELL I have alot of people that want me to give it away but waiting on the right guy to come along. Appraised at $25,000.00 in 92 i've put around 2-4000 into it just reduced it to $18500.00 at www.streetrodding.com/ for a limited pre-summer sale on it. The Regal

DON’T FORGET GUY’S TONIGHT IS LIVE CHAT 7-10PM MST ON MY CHANNEL http://www.mogulus.com/crazytrainguyschannel DON’T FORGET NOEL’S BIG TRAINSHOW TOMORROW NITE 5-11PM CALIFORNIA TIME. NOEL WILL TELL YOU THE DETAILS http://www.mogulus.com/noelw too.

Now I was looking forward to midlife crisis. Planning for it. Wondering if I should get a 'vette or a classic or… And then I was told I never got past age 6, and have to wait another 44 years

Tom,
We tried the 'vettes.
I had to roll out on the ground and then stand up to get out of one!
You know you are an old decrepit phart when the salesman offers you a hand out of the car!

I also looked at a lot of classics.
But most came with "over -heating, stalling, etc prollems.
They still required some more input and cash just to get them like I would want them.

This unit we bought, I don’t have to roll out of. It is a hardtop retractable. Got all the bells and has a 6 year 50,000 mile warranty on all the mechanical stuff.

I might customize it a little.

And I’m still open to a classic later on for puttering around with in the shop.

Featherkile has an old MG just rotting away in his shop. Instead, he works on trains. That guy has to get his priorities in order!

Forgot about these…Went to the flying field this morning and one of the members showed up with a red one. Sweet ride you got there!

Nice vehicles. Love the coupe. One too many wheels, though.

"Went to the flying field this morning " Flying field? You an R/C flier? It’s been way too long

Yep, it’s a blast. Flew my 86" P-51B for the first time this season. Still shake’n! Back to the thread subject, one of our members only fly’s small electrics so the SSR was a good pickup for him!

They have a yearly gathering for SSR owners this weekend. I didn’t know they only made 25,000 and they stopped making them in 2006. Take good care of it  Ralph http://www.citizen-times.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=200990427048

I saw a red one of these 1949 Triumph roadster parked beside my old rocket at a motel last night:

Magnificent job of restoration.

I had a 1959 TR3A. Fun car. I can see the heritage, but I don’t know that I have ever seen a picture of that model. Very cool looking.

Hope Chevy is still around next year to get service from. Looks more and more like Chrysler going to do the big Hindenburg

You missed the announcement that the federal Government is now honoring all of GM's warranties. No Really.

Don’t worry.
There are some good independent shops around if you look.
And some bad ones.
I’m not worried one bit.
