That’s awesome, I love the level of detail
You knocked it out of the park. Very very well done and a unique model for sure.
Thanks for the positive comments Guys, it was a fun project and a real challenge to get it to come together.
You know Rick… My beat up old Gon would look right at home behind that…
Absolutely stunning Rick. Well done
Cheers

Thanks Neil, like I said it was fun but a head scratcher trying to get it to look right.
Well I admit it probably doesn’t “look right” to most folks but it is what I was trying for
Cool build, very detailed. Where did you get the roller chain? 3D print? I will be making a steam engine for a crane for my stone quarry and thinking about using chain and sprockets.
That stuff is available most everywhere.
Micro Mark, or McMaster Carr are a couple of sources.
Just Google miniature chain and sprockets you’ll get plenty of hits.
The only downside is trying to make all the technical jargon match your wants

Thank You. I am familiar with McMaster Carr and have ordered from them usually get it the next day. Never thought to look there for that small of roller chain.
Such a great model, Rick. It’s been a lot of fun watching you make it.
If you’re inclined at some point, it would be neat to see a B&W shot of it, posed in the same manner as one of your original pics, and set the images side by side. Outside of background, I’ll bet one would have a hard time saying which was the model.
That would be absolutely awesome! - Eric
Cliff, that sounded like a great idea so I fumbled around and was able to come up with these comparison pictures.
Prototype
Attempted model
Wow, amazing! Thanks, Rick! They do look so alike, except that your accessories are more complete, while the prototype seems quite out of service.
Also, your loco looks a bit more realistic. Comparing gas engines, for example, the prototype’s looks fake! So it’s good you put in the fence background, to help people know.
