I picked up the B’mann Rail Track at the ECLSTS and decided I’d like a canvas cover over the open bed.
Hooked a 9v battery up to it
Waiting on some decals from Stan

I never liked the looks of these…until now!
Great Job Ken,Wow does that ever improve the character of the railcar. I india ink washed the wood stakes on mine and that helped them look less plasticy.
Technicaly she was RGS’ second #1!!!

nice, Ken…
Sure changes it for the better. Well done.
I think you just put the canvas on cause you don’t want me too see it hauling hens to market!
Very nice. Something fun to run and easy to carry when when visiting layouts.
Nice improvement Ken
I also bought a bunch of crates and barrels for the interior. And I need to find a suitable battery, the 9v job doesn’t last long.

You’re right, But it didn’t have a cover over the bed and I always thought that one never quite looked “finished”…
Much better. My friend picked one up as well. I really like them.
Pay attention to the screws in the drive shaft yokes. They work out and are difficult to find in ballast.
So I’ve heard…

Isn’t that Goose #6, the work goose? My favorite one. I have a watercolor painting of this photo that I had John Coker do for me. http://digital.denverlibrary.org/cdm/singleitem/collection/p15330coll22/id/75387/rec/37 Lots of great photos of the geese, and the RGS & DRGW at the DPL photo library…
Goose no6 was built later and it’s at the Colorado Railroad Museum. No 1 was at Ridgeway and was the first one built to haul the mail, but I don’t think it hauled too much mail since it didn’t have a locked compartment to place it in.
Been awhile since I’ve read up on these things and I think that all of them are still around. I saw one in Delores, one in Telluride, this one in Ridgeway and the museum has 3

The one in Telluride was sitting next to City Hall and I didn’t get a chance to get a picture of it. I guess I should number it 1, but I like the cover over the bed, so I’ll use a little artistic license. (1 1/2 maybe?)
I got this kit for mine. Hides the battery well. Easy kit, laser cut. I use a 12 volt gel cel battery, runs about the right speed.

Now that’s kewl…I like that’un…
Looks good with the canvas covering. I like it.
Has anyone figured out a way to “fix” the jerky downhill performance on these yet? Only flaw in an otherwise nice model.
Mine hasn’t made it around to the “down hill” side of the layout yet…I tried a 9v NiHM pack but it doesn’t make it “up the hill” very well, so I guess I better opt for a 12v pack.
After some careful consideration, I decided to number it per the original, but as a “might have been” in it’s later years hauling LCL freight. .

I just wish I could get the hood all the way open, like they use to run them during the summer when they overheated.
