I’ve been eyeing the new USA TRAINS docksider thinking how close it looks to a D&RG/RGS 0-6-0T. The USA engine is 1:29 so maybe a Delton cab could replace that, so what do you think? I loaded the photos of each below-I hope.
I would suggest taking the Delton cabs dimensions and comparing them to the USA cabs.
Methinks the Delton cab will be too small at 1/24. I also think you will have a really fun time cutting that diecast cab off if that body is indeed a one-peice metal casting, maybe a custom cab from styrene that can be built over the lower cab panels might be a better approach, that way your only cutting off the upper part of the cab.
Personally for me I’m awaiting the Piko 0-6-0 tanker, its plastic body will be much more amenable to bashing than the USA tanker. Heck a complete kitbash over the entire bodyshell of the Piko wouldnt be that hard compared to messing with the diecast shell of the USA.
