Reworked Piko 0-6-0 w/new Cab and Crew

Guys, I spent the early part of the day reworking one of my Little Piko 0-6-0’s to see if I can make it look more…well for lack of a better word…“American” I Started out with this…

Done a little trimming here and there… Mostly cutting a notch in the boiler to allow the Aristo Pacific Cab (Thanks Again Rex!!) to slide over the boiler and removing the coal bunker off of the original Cab and trimming back the walkway along side the boiler so that I could flush mount the cab against the water tank.

Then I moved the Cab steps over to align properly with the new walkway between cab and bunker

Moved the back-up light from the original cab and mounted it in the center of the bunker

put it all together and installed a couple of 1:30th guys I have on hand in the cab after shortening and relocating the original cab seats.

Installed some KD 830’s front and back, some N&W Decals, a little bit of flat black to weather it up a bit and old 75Mhz TE I had on hand and I now have another dedicated switcher.

I started on this about 8 A.M and wrapped up about 12:30ish, All I have left to do is enclose the inside of the bunker and glue some coal down on the cab floor and make some grab irons for the sides of the cab, All that will get done once I make a trip to Hobby Lobby to get some supplies.

Here’s the little switcher at “work” coupled to a USA Trains Caboose

One Coupled to the Back of FrankenMallet with Ole’ fearless Ruf making his way up to the cab.

And one More coupled to An Aristo 100 Ton Hopper.

I think it looks alot better now mixed in with my 1:29th stuff than it did before.

Very nice,
A simple cab change can give a locomotive a very different look.
And now you have “one of a kind”.

Thanks Ralph

Looks good Shawn

Thanks Dave, The more I look at it and the other untouched one I have, I’m thinking I may have to round up another Cab and convert it too
