Revo installation in a Dash 9 (w/diesel sounds)

I just installed a Revo with Diesel sounds in my new Dash 9. I also installed the smoke driver board. Including programming it took me 10 minutes from start to finish. And I still have the option of track or battery operation.

I do hope they stick around, a guy could get used to this!

I’ve been asked by one of our members to give advice on a first-time R/C install. I’d like to recommend Revo due to it’s wide acceptance, but supply being what it is I am very hesitant.

Also, and I suppose this is a configuration thing, but last weekend I noticed some of the Revo users had to mash the Fwd button a bunch of times to get the loco to move, and then the same bunch of times to get it to stop. I’m used to very fine digital/proportional motor control and find that continuous mashing of buttons to be an annoyance.

Jon,

The availability issues have me very worried at the moment, on that issue alone I am not sure I could recommend it. It is the best system for me but I have to say I am very disappointed in the supply. I hope for the best but who knows.

One of the strong suits of the 2.4 Revo is it’s ability to customize the throttle to each individual engine. If someone is “mashing buttons” they do not have it set up correctly. Start and stop voltage along with speed curves and momentum are all easily programmable.

Thanks Mark. I figured as much on the start/stop voltage settings. I still like my stick better than buttons though :] Need to investigate Airwire for this friend.

Just my 2 cents worth:

I prefer to see a screen that tells me what I’m doing, and shows me that I have a responce to my actions…

I have to agree with Mark on the revo… if they are constantly pushing buttons, and the loco’s not moving, then the revo transmitter is definitely not set up right with the engine…
