Restoring Aristo corrigated side aluminum passenger cars

Howdy everyone.
I have successfully removed paint from 7 of 8 sides on aristo aluminum corrigated side passenger cars using zip strip.
I used superclean to remove paint from the plastic parts which works very well without damage to the plastic.

The first side however, I did a big no no and stripped the paint off the aluminum side with the superclean. Now I have a scummy looking side, looks like a shower door with built up scum look. I think I’ve removed the shiny finish. I can’t seem to buff it out.
Is this an electroplating process used on these cars?

What is a good way to restore the lustre to these aluminum cars?

Thanks for any insight anyone may have.
Richard

Edited to add Hello welcome aboard nice to meet you. An introduction would be nice for your first post. We kind of like to feel like a family a little grumpy at times but usually a great bunch to know.

To answer your question, tedious but should work is a dry SOS pad and slowly polish it

Rather than the SOS pad, try 0000 steel wool. Good luck, and welcome the LSC>

Dipped in the Zip Strip..... BTW welcome.

Hi friends and thanks for the input so far. Thanks also for the welcome aboard. Actually I’ve been a member for over two years but my email had changed and I couldn’t get logged on no matter what I did so I just started new. I have read along with LSC but ‘till now haven’t done any posts.
So introducing myself now, I’m hittin’ awful close to 70 now, semi-retired and as most of you are, I am traincrazy. I like trains from Fisher Price to museum quality, lots of rivets, no rivets, scratchbuilt, humorous, any scale. My first train was a wooden one with paper printed sides and no wheels.

I sure do appreciate any help here, I will give the steel wool a try tonight.
Cheers, stay warm, dry and safe everyone.
Rich
